they do it at most of the big stores like bloomies etc, i got discount in NYC last year just by seeing customer services and proving i was from out of the state.

Thanks Johnny. We tend to shop in smaller stores and the outlet malls but that's really useful for bigger purchases. I've been to the States loads of times but never bothered with this however it looks like I could save a bit so thanks to both of you!

The embarrassing thing is.... I never practice what I preach :o

Have never yet used it, as we tend to go to the mall on the spur of the moment (ie without passport) and then any purchase I ever make tends to be in the 30 dollar range, so it's never enough of a saving to return another day with passport

My friend though, she was very happy with it when she spent 2000 dollars :eek::eek: in Macy's once!!

It's best to get the bus from PO to DTD to maximise your day, otherwise you will have to get a Disney bus to MK and the Lynx then doubles back to DTD before heading off to ID.

Have a look at the Dibb before you go as there is loads of info on there, well worth having a root around.
    :)

    Hi beansy

Yes, Ive looked at the bus maps and and it would save a lot of time to get on at DTD, and could get there via the boats which I like, thankyou.
hi. we always go by lynx buses. best value. i got 2 spare tickets if your interested

    Hi virtualgirl

Looking at the bus maps it seems to only be a couple of dollars each way, but I appreciate your kind offer.

Here's a bit of a last minute question for you all. 4 of us (2 A and 2 C 17 and 11) are going out to Orlando on Sunday for 2 weeks.

With the exception of the 11 year old we have been to Florida 5 times in the past and in fact we only just returned from a 10 day stay in April. In April we did Universal, IOA, Holywood Studios and Disney World.

Myself and my daughter (11) are quite happy to do the parks over and over again but my better half (who has been slightly forced to go this time) doesnt particularly like doing the parks any more and would prefer to see/do something else.

We are a funny bunch because myself and daughter hate beaches and sunbathing and Other half and son love beaches and sunbathing by the pool. We have a villa with pool so they can do that a few days but they would prefer to get out of the villa.

So then can anyone here recommend anything slightly out of the normal theme park range? We dont mind driving as long as it is within reason.

There are some suggestions on the Dibb, if you like Manatees it looks like there are lots of opportunities to look at them and maybe meet them?! Have you been to Gatorland and the Kennedy Space Center? Or how about one of the behind the scenes type days at Busch Gardens where you can get up close and personal with the animals?

Just want to recommend FloridaTix if anyone's still looking to book their park tickets. Ordered on Thursday afternoon, opted for the free delivery option (3-5 days) and they arrived Saturday morning. All real tickets, no vouchers to exchange. I got a reply to my query about price matching (albeit a day after they said that the'd reply) and they say that they will price match UK ticket agents but not travel agents. :)

We are hoping to go to Orlando around 13th July to the 27th July 2012; two adults and one 8 year old.

I have a few questions. DH wants to stay in a villa and have car hire, where as I would prefer to stay at a Disney Resort for the first week where we can be imersed and have a dining plan, and then move to a Villa or Hotel for the second week with a car when we can travel around, BBQ and Poolside for a few days, and not get too 'Disney'd out'. I assume that Kissemee would be the best area to locate a villa?

DH main reason for the villa is that our son like to have his own room, and even on holiday will want to be in bed at 9pm most night, so having 1 room in a hotel for 2 weeks wouldn't be very much fun for us in the evening. I'm thinking that the OKW is an option assuming that the 1 bed apartments have a bedroom and a sofa bed in a lounge area? Are there any recommendations for similar accomadation?

How to keep everyone happy? DH will be grumpy if he's cooped up in effectively a bedroom with our son snoring, and DS will be grumpy if he doesn't get his sleep.

    Help...pretty please.

  • I want to go to disney world in may 2012 with my granddaughters who will be 5 and 2 and a half. Do you think that 2 and a half is too young for a 9 hour flight. I am sure they will love disneyworld but not sure if they will be able to handle such a long flight. Your thoughts and experiences please. many thanks x

    Granddad4638,
My 4 children have been to Disney World at various ages, starting from 5 months.
The outbound flight can drag a little but the children have usually slept for a couple of hours and at 2&1/2 I think stickers and crayons are wonderful for a flight. Both of the children are ideal ages for Disney and the younger one will be free at all theme parks and any buffet restaurants you might eat at.

For the flight home my children usually fall asleep pretty quickly and often sleep through landing, needing to be woken to get off the plane.

my daughter was under 2 when i first took her long haul,i let her have a good run around the vroom before boarding and then had loads of stuff to occupy her on board. books, colouring stuff, snacks, toys and some films loaded on iphone to supplement the aircraft IFE. no issues at all on outbound flight.
coming back was overnight so she slept until back in UK.
