Orlando/Disneyworld Thread (Part 3)

Now we are about to venture back with 3 older kids, aged 13 10 and 7. Have to take it during summer holidays next year which put up the price alot. We thought we might as well go for 3 weeks rather than 2, since the flights are the bulk of the cost. Can't seem to find it under £7000  for flight, hotel, car and disney passes (with free dining if we stay disney). Then there's other theme park passes on top of that ! Looking like an expensive holiday, but really want to take kids once !
I'd not stay for the 3 weeks in Disney as eating will be quite restricting if on the plan, 2 weeks in the OKW 2 bed Deluxe Villa with free dining plan would be 3k (that price is showing now) so that would be worthwhile as you'd save loads of money on food. Then stay a week elsewhere, you'd only need 2 week tickets and do the first/last 2 weeks at Disney. That would save some money.
It is expensive and yes, once in a lifetime for some people so that is why it is important to get it right. However, it is so wrth it, the memories will last a lifetime.0 -

We have stayed here, the family are from Blackpool, and are great to deal with. Hope this helps.
http://www.orlando4villas.com/house/846/
we have rented through ths site too, it is a syndicate of English owners and the contact is John O'neill who lives in Manchester and is vwery helpful, most of the villas are on Emerald Island which is a great location
Hope this helps.
Thank you for that website, I'm looking through it now :-)0 -
would anybody be able to give me some advice/recommendations please?
i have seen on icelolly, on 28th april 2011 for 7 nights, staying at the holiday inn select at orlando international airport for £307 each.
this seems ridiculously cheap and was wondering if it would be worth it for the price? it says on the website that it includes complimentary transport to and from dinsey, sea world etc. the reviews on trip advisor seem ok but most people had only stayed one night. would it be suitable for 7 nights? obviously the hotel is just a base and we wouldn't spend time there, only to sleep.
i mentioned it says it includes complimentary transport to the main attractions, will this be at certain awkward times of the day, does anyone know? i don't want to be spending a fortune on taxis etc.
sorry for the rambling post, i'm just after some advice from people who have been to orlando a lot, or anyone who has stayed at this hotel and used disney, sea world etc, or whether i should just avoid it!
many thanks0 -

I dont seem to be able to find these prices. Are flights included in the above? Out of interest can you give me the links to August 2011 (18th) for OKW for 2 weeks for 4 aduls 1 child?0 -

Yes sure. Here is the link to Deluxe Villas: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/hotels/?sortBy=nG:hasResortCategoryFacet&fv_78265=on
Choose the 'Book Now' option and then it should search, just scroll through til you come to Old Key West on the 2nd page, it says 'hotel from' but click into it and you'll see it says '2 bed villa' and a price of £3108 for the date you want for 2 weeks. Also includes full dining plan and it is the mid plan, not the quick counter so it would be 14 days of free food.
However, you can use the credits for breakfast too so you are not limited to booking your evening meal there, you can have character breakfasts as well. We are going to the one with Lilo and Stitch at the Polynesian on the last day.
No, it does not include flights but does include the Magical Express so you drop your cases off in the airport after the first security check, then Disney collect them and take them to your hotel room, and you get to go on the Disney Bus to your resort.
Just a little bit of extra magic as far as I am concerned!! You have to book your tickets at the same time to get free dining. Consider buying a 21 days for around £20 more each and you can sell them after for around $100-$150 with a week still left on them. I'll confirm this when we get back. How MSE!!0 -
I cannot get that to come up in the search, no accom is showing for those dates at OKW. Are you running the search just for accom or with flight inclusive?0

Staying at the airport for 7 nights??? It's quite a way each day and the shuttle buses tend to leave and return at one time only, say 8.30 am and return at 6pm - so you would not, for example, be able to see the fireworks at Epcot and MK, you'd miss Fantasmic.
If flights are that price I'd get the flights and stay elsewhere tbh. You also need to bear in mind that shuttle buses go 'around the houses' our hotel was 5 minutes from the transportation centre (this is where you get the monorail from to get into MK) yet the shuttle bus -w ith NO aircon - took one hour. Horrendous. We bought bus tickets which were $12 for a week and kids up to 16 stay free.
Have a look at the Radisson at Celebration, it'll be around £500 for a week http://www.expedia.co.uk/Orlando-Hotels-Radisson-Resort-Orlando-Celebration.h256.Hotel-Information?chkin=28%2F04%2F2011&chkout=12%2F05%2F2011&rm1=a2%3Ac9%3Ac10&crti=0&qscr=dspv&fsam=1&rdct=1&zz=1283878677117&from=f&htsd=0&fgds=0&shtl=1&hwrqCacheKey=3f989fcc-45d3-413e-a456-bf00dea9ededHWRQ&flag=1&ihtl=2&GOTO=QSCRIPT&rfrr=-30461&smgt=0&favl=0&htid=256&c=1d3d24ed-bffe-4752-93aa-525bdd62cf0d and get bus tickets, the Lynx runs every 15 minutes and you are there in 5 minutes for $12 each per week. The tickets take you al over Orando on the Lynx bus, the stop is right outside the hotel.
That is Easter week/Bank Holiday so accomodation will cost more, that is the only thing.0 -
Guys - don't forget you can do Orlando significantly cheaper if you stay outside of Disney. Don't restrict yourself to the onsite accommodation.
The 2 bed villas are absolutely wonderful, but at £3k for two weeks (before flights!) but you can get a super nice 2 bed condo just outside Disney for far less.
Me, I love staying onsite, but I have also stayed offsite and had an excellent time. I agree wth blue monkey wholeheartedly that the 2 bed Disney villas with free dining are terrific value for money, but that doesn't make them the cheapest option.0 -

I am looking for 'hotels and ticket' as you have to get the ticket to get the free dining option. Going to have another check.0 -
Thanks found it. I will be looking at it tonight, but flights are seeming very expensive.0
