ESTA ENQUIRY
We are going back to Florida next May but our ESTA runs out Jan 2011, do I fill in new applications now? or do we have to wait until January 2011? - trying to avoid the fees that will be coming into force later this year.
Thanks

I would do it now while it is still free. It lasts for two years so you would be fine until July 20120 -
If you book car hire, I know that you need a credit card but does it need to be in the name that the car is booked under?
I have booked the holiday (via Thomas Cook), my husband is driving and his name appears on the car rental. He doesnt have a credit card but I do......does anyone see this as a problem or will he need a CC in his name?
We fly on the 23rd:eek:
Thomas Cook also booked the car to be collected from Orlando Int and we are flying (with them) into Sanford..........Muppets!But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -

i think it will need to be in the drivers name, when i had mine through virgin i collected fron alamo desk at MCO i just gave them my nationwide debit card and had no problems.
i spoke to someone previously who said if you book directly they insist on a CC but if it is booked as part of a package with the full insurance then a debit card will suffice. How true this is i dont know as i say was told it by someone else.0 -

When we collected our hire car last year my DH didn't have his CC with him so the agent said that the car would have to be in my name with DH as an additional driver. We always both drive anyway so it wasn't a problem for us, but if you were going to have your husband as the only driver you may have to pay extra to have him added as an additional driver if the rental has to be in your name.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

You can apply for your ESTA as soon as you like because it lasts 2 years which easily covers you for Feb 2011. Get it sorted before the charge comes in.
Various websites offer a 2-day Disney base ticket with hopper option. Just one example below, not necessarily the cheapest:

£50 Love2Shop Voucher, Product of the Year Hamper,

Good advice from mutley, but just be aware that when applying for ESTA you have to enter your passport number and if anyone in your party needs to renew their passport before you travel they will need a new ESTA with the new passport number, ie you can't update an authorised ESTA with new passport details2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Hi
Were all going to Orlando in October 27th for 14 days and everything is booked apart from Tickets to the theme parks which we will get abit closer to the time.
My question is we are staying at a different hotel than the last time we went and wondered if anyone had stayed at this hotel, its the Orlando Metropolitan Express.
Also last time we went (2 years ago) Walmart cashed travelers cheques is this still the case?
On the car no car debate last time we never had a car and stayed in hotel on IDrive and it was fairly easy to get around, the I trolley was brilliant and we also had free transfers to all the theme parks which was also ideal although we were told what time we had to leave in the morning and what time we had to leave for the ride home after but other than that it was very pleasant. We even ventured to places like other malls and walmart on the busses and that wasnt a problem and even gave us chances to chat to locals instead of tourists which was rather nice. This year we getting a car purely because we also want to visit Clearwater beach and a couple of the state parks, Blue springs looks good so if anyone has visited them id appreciate their views.
thanks again in advance!!Win £2008 for 2008 member No.430

We go to Blue Springs state park every year its one of my favourite places in Florida. The manatees should be there as they usually are between nov and march however we always call the morning we want to go to find out how many manatees are there. We have been with 4-5 manatees there up to 200. When we first went I was worried we wouldnt see them but thats not an issue at all they are easy to see and there are many viewing docks across the park. There are alot of lovely parks and gardens in the area. Bok Tower is beautiful and Leu Gardens. Also Lake Louisa is pretty good and there is alot of wildlife there to see. We tend to do the less commercial places now but we are doing the parks next year as it will be a big family holiday as we are getting married out there too.0
