If you book car hire, I know that you need a credit card but does it need to be in the name that the car is booked under?
I have booked the holiday (via Thomas Cook), my husband is driving and his name appears on the car rental. He doesnt have a credit card but I do......does anyone see this as a problem or will he need a CC in his name?
We fly on the 23rd:eek:
We just returned yesterday and Thomas Cook also booked our car through Alamo. This was only for my husband to drive but I used my credit card on arrival, no questions asked, The Alamo rep did try to convince us that the car we had booked(mid SUV) was not going to be big enough and advised we upgrade, this refused and car was a Toyota RAV 4 with plenty of room. She then advised of breakdown cover which I stupidly agreed to although I had been advised by TC I was covered for everything, she said this could not be offered in UK, charge was $5 daily, I would not take this again.

The Disney website is doing a offer of 14 days unlimited entry for the price of 7 for £225 but im more interested in the nightlife at citywalk universal.
Anyone found any cheaper deals??

i had similar at Alamo, booked with virgin and plat upgrade package so everything included for mid size car for 2 adults and a 2 year old.
she said car would not be big enough and offered upgrade to a camaro for $100 extra per week plus £25 extra per week insurance and then the breakdown cover,i too declined and had a walk down the midsize car line in garage and picked a plent big enough dodge charger.0 -
I dont even know what insurance I have as I just paid the price on the package for "free car hire".
Would anyone recommend taking the breakdown cover?
Just noticed that there is still a descrepancy with the car as the replacement invoice (they booked it from the wrong airport) shows a different amount and different car typ.
Last time I will EVER book a package deal. But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -

with the free car you will most certainly only have the very basic insurance and only covered for third party liability.should you have an accident then cost to repair/replace hire car will be your responsibilty you will also have to pay the airport fees etc.
i suggest you get in touch with whoever you booked holiday/car with and get the fully inclusive insurance package added on.0 -

I still paid £373 for the "free car" I am assuming that this is the insurance price. But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
Planning for 6 adults who are very big kids to goto Florida October 2011 staying on International Drive.
None of us want to drive, so to keep the price down we figured International Drive would be the best place to stay and can always get shuttle busses to Disney etc.
We have a few conflicting opinions though, I think we would be better waiting for flights offers and once we have these, then book a hotel seperate on International Drive, looking on this thread there seems to be lots of choice.
However some of our party want to book in advance and as a package from a Travel Agent which is against my frugal money saving ways.
Can you lovely people settle this difference of opinion ?
Many Thanks in advance0 -
LOUISEJ.. It sounds as if you have paid the full inclusive package. Did you book it online with TC's or on the high street ?
Sure as day follows night you will be asked to upgrade to a bigger car! and they will try and sell you something. Breakdown ins. you have a new car for goodness sake tell them thanks but no thanks if it breaks down they will get a call. You will find once they cannot sell you any extras they will be polite and attentive. And if you do not like the car, tell them there and then. Tell them you want it changed because it smells.
Hope you have time to confirm what car and where! Is there a TC's near you if so go in and sort it before you go.
Have a good holiday.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

I've been to orlando a lot over the last few years and I always but my disney tickets from dwtickets.com. You can buy them online and have them delivered to hotel you are staying in but there is a charge. I always buy them a couple of weeks before I get there and then pick them up from there shop. I usually end up buying the no expiry ticket and get 3-4 holidays out of the ticket
I love citywalk but don't pay to get into their nightclubs because you can get in for free. If you go to this website http://www.orlandocoupons.com/directory_view.php?ad_id=10 and print out the voucher and take it to guest services they will exchange it for a ticket. When you get the ticket you then go to whatever nightclub you want and they will stamp your hand and put a wristband on you, which is just to say that you id has been checked and you will then be able to go into any of the other nightclubs without having to show your id again. Each nightclub usually stamps your hand after scanning your ticket. Hope this saves a few of you a couple of quid. I think the nightclubs usually charge around $8 to get into each one.
If you plan on going to nightclubs on more than one night you will have to print out 1 voucher for each person for each night.0
