LOUISEJ.. It sounds as if you have paid the full inclusive package. Did you book it online with TC's or on the high street ?
Sure as day follows night you will be asked to upgrade to a bigger car! and they will try and sell you something. Breakdown ins. you have a new car for goodness sake tell them thanks but no thanks if it breaks down they will get a call. You will find once they cannot sell you any extras they will be polite and attentive. And if you do not like the car, tell them there and then. Tell them you want it changed because it smells.
Hope you have time to confirm what car and where! Is there a TC's near you if so go in and sort it before you go.
Have a good holiday.
I booked it on the high street, it has been so stressfull as they have made numerous mistakes along the way! Never again will I trust a travel agents to book something like this. But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
LOUISEJ half the fun is in the booking of these holidays, but you want an adrenaline rush, not stress!!! At the end of the day YOU want a good holiday, so no more being nice in TC's, get them to sort it tell them they have put you under an awful amount of stress that you really do not need. And a little sweetner is called for!!!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

agreed £373 sounds like you have the insurance package that includes everything even a tank of fuel.
as for the car you will find that most of the companies have the different size of cars lined up in garage with keys in door lock, they will point you to correct line you can then choose any make/model and colour from that line.they do not just give you a motor of correct size.0 -

None of us want to drive, so to keep the price down we figured International Drive would be the best place to stay and can always get shuttle busses to Disney etc.
We have a few conflicting opinions though, I think we would be better waiting for flights offers and once we have these, then book a hotel seperate on International Drive, looking on this thread there seems to be lots of choice.
However some of our party want to book in advance and as a package from a Travel Agent which is against my frugal money saving ways.
Can you lovely people settle this difference of opinion ?
Many Thanks in advance
Why don't you check out expedia - their prices are cheaper than the high street - £555 each for 3 weeks including hotel ( The Quality Inn International Drive ) + flights - could well be less if theres more of you0 -
Huge thanks for your reply, I hadnt seen any that cheap so will check it out.0

Also, book your flight through virgin holidays website and you'll get 10% off (a little loophole I found!!):
Go to the website https://www.virginholidays.co.uk
Put in the dates you want to travel
Choose the 'fly drive'option
When you choose the car remove the insurance option (it will say 3rd party)
Then choose any extras.
You'll see when you 'check out' that you get charged £30 for the basic car but you'll also get 10% discount on the total price, also book as soon as the new 2011 and you'll get a free extra like V room for early booking.
We booked flights and V room this way for less than it would have been for just flights on VA website. You can also only book flights 12 months in advance if you book just the flight but on the virgin holidays website you can book up to the end of 2011 at the moment because seat allocation works differently.
The flights are the same price on VH - it is the accomodation you pay a surcharge on so book that elsewhere. So yes, book your hotel with Expedia as they are cheaper. It might also be cheaper to book the hotel with the hotel directly so find the hotel you want and then go to their site first.
I would actually recommend 'Radisson at Celebration' for a week as it is on the 192, the last bus stop before World Drive and the bus stop is just outside the hotel (out of the hotel, turn right and walk to the main road, this is the 192, the bus stop is there. You can also get a bus here to Walmart which is the last stop if you get the bus that runs to the right - you might want to get a cab back though, LOL). You can pay $12 for a weekly ticket to use on ALL Lynx buses and the bus takes you right in to where the Disney Car Park and bus stop is. You go there to get all the buses to get to the other parks. The Lynx run every 15 minutes to and from the Transportation Centre and Radisson is the next bus stop.
The hotel also has a free shuttle bus at 9am for Seaworld and Universal. It DOES go all round the houses (same as most other shuttle) so we just got a cab instead. The kids do not want to be on a shuttle for an hour to get to disney, they were getting frustrated, so we got the Lynx buses instead.
A tip is to get a cab on the first/second day and to get the drivers card, use him all all time and you'll get cheaper rates - especially if you book a return. And if that driver cannot do it he sends a friend instead. This is what we have always done.
I'd then move to International drive for a week and do everything that there is to offer there. It just saves on travelling times to be honest. You can usually leave you luggage at the hotel and go off and do something for the day and check in later. We are using our moving day as our rest day.0 -

I have just visited the branch and recieved an upgrade on the car for my inconvenience:)
Upgraded from compact group to intermediate group, pleased with the outcome even though they have given me so much stress.
Lots of things included on the insurance which I dont understand???
Collision Damage waiver Full (I assume this is our version of fully comp)
Extended Protection?
Concession Recoup Fee?
Customer Facility Charge?
I have decided NOT to take out the roadside assistance extra but think I will take the pre-paid toll fee.But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0
