They probably wont offer you teh dinning plan but worth a try. Many do not book Saratogo as they think its DVC only. Its like five mins walk from POR so i would take it and enjoy it unless they give you dining at POR.

Dont do OKW in my opinion, stick to SSR

Craig, for the most part I think you give amazing advice but we will never agree on this whole walking between SSR & Port Orleans thing ;)

It is nearly two miles from the centre of SSR to the entrance of the closest bit of POFQ. If you were staying at Congress Park and walking to Riverside it would be more than that. It is never a five minute walk, and not a good idea in the August heat with no shade etc.....

On the website I sent rpeers to Karen )the Disney one) it goes state that you can have a studio, 1 or 2 bed apartment and what you get in it - the studio is about 25% cheaper. We went for the 1 bed because of the kitchen. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/hotels/?sortBy=nG:hasResortCategoryFacet&fv_78265=on

I agree the 1 bed is amazing value :)

Just wanted the poster to realise that sometimes a villa isn't a villa ;):D

Karen, can DVC members buy the Dining Plan when they get there?
  • Im hoping to book our 10 day hol with the grandkids to Orlando in feb but can someone please confirm whether my tesco vouchers will cover the quote i have been given by Virgin.
£3036.00 in flights & accomodation + £277 car extras. i have £2800 to use therefore if i minus the £2800 from the £3036 i am left with £236+£277 to pay. Is this right or am i liable to pay the taxes

Definitely not - but they can add it on through Member Services (DVC's Customer Service) beforehand. Usual costs apply.

When you got the quote did you tell them you have the vouchers and were using them to pay for the holiday? This is important because if you have not you will pay more than the quote you have been given. You do not get ANY discounts when you pay by vouchers.

PLEASE read this about using your vouchers to book with Virgin: http://www.tesco.com/CLUBCARD/DEALS/PRODUCTINFOSHEETS/S6038.PDF

We paid almost £1000 in taxes for 2 adults and 2 kids and it says on that link that Fuel and Airport Taxes are NOT included.

You might find it cheaper to book a bog standard accomodation with your vouchers and pay to stay somewhere better. We decided not to use ours as it was not worth it without the discounts.

give virgin a ring tell them exactly how many vouchers you have and dates, accomodation etc and get a quote.
then as said by blue monkey explore all options and see which is cheapest option.
you could also check cosmos for tesco vouchers.

Cosmos only let you use £400 in reward vouchers per passenger now (£100 in CC vouchers) hoever you can use it towards Taxes. http://www.tesco.com/CLUBCARD/DEALS/PRODUCTINFOSHEETS/S6022.PDF

You'll have to have a juggle with figures and see what the best way of doing it is.

I'd go along with that. I don't even walk from OKW to POFQ and that's a lot closer. Disney go to great lengths to separate resorts with different grades - hence you can walk from SSR to OKW relatively easily and from POFQ to POR along the path at the side of the Sassagoula. But to get from OKW to POFQ or from SSR to POFQ without walking on the golf course (and there are signs saying not to everywhere), you'd need to walk out of the main gate, along an unlit road with no pavement, onto a busy main road still with no pavement and past the security at POFQ. I wondered if Craig was thinking of SSR to DTD?

My reason for chosing OKW (other than the fact I've spent about a year in total at OKW as its my home resort and I love it) over SSR would be that the rooms are substantially larger. OKW one bed is 942 sq ft - roughly the same as my 3 bedroom house. Saratoga, IIRC is just c700-725 sq ft. Its the same with any of the three early resorts (Hilton Head and Vero Beach are the other two), the accommodation is much larger like for like than any of the later resorts.

Great deal on the one bed btw blue. In points terms the one bed is double that of the studio for members and the one bed is approx three times the size of the studio.[/FONT]
