For anyone going to Disneyworld and finding themselves a bit short of cash ........
We were stranded in LA at the end of our easter holiday and, although we had some credit left on the credit cards, had very very little cash. We hadn't taken a debit card with us (mine would have had horrific charges anyway) and wanted to avoid cash advance fees on the credit card, so when buying a few trinkets in a Disneyland shop we also bought some Disney Dollars. Used them for small purchases (drinks, ice creams etc) and got the change back in US dollars. Tided us over nicely for the extra week+ we were stuck.:)2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

It is quite easy to avoid tolls in and around Orlando and indeed Florida.
I agree some are unavoidable but i honestly don't think $20 represents good value when you consider that the Turnpike aside most tolls are from $0.50 to $1 and the likelihood of going through 10 tolls, never mind 20 are really pretty non existent at best.
i may be wrong but the missus did a bit of calculating of the tolls and gave up at $13 some of the ones we were going through were $1.75,the sun pass was valid for the whole 14 day stay.value for money really depends how much driving you plan on doing.
but i take your point about the cost of pass MAY be more than tolls however for me it was still value for money as i did not need to que at the toll plaza especially as some had quite large ques and also not all accept cash.
but each to their own i would get one next time i go.0 -
RE Toll passes. With Budget rental they had the toll sensor on the front of car and they emailed a bill at a later date or put it straight on your CC.. You had the best of both worlds. No stopping and bill your credit card. But the three times we have done this the highest bill was for $6 something. Nowhere near $20Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

Mmmm. We have booked with US Rentacar and the actual hire will be Budget. Not sure how that will work out costwise with all the driving we will be doing (900miles min covering multiple tolls).0

Don't know if anyone can help, but have just had to cancel my car hire with virgin/TCD due to them now not being able to provide the premium suv I originally booked. I am looking for a company who are able to provide a ford expedition, prefferably, but although they are advertised on plenty of websites I'm informed that when you turn up they dont have them. So if anyones rented one recently could they let me know the company please? Thanks.0

Hi,
Does anyone have any suggestions on this - I'm taking my 3 year old to Orlando on 8th May and I wonder if anyone knew a site or board to meet up with other people doing the same thing?
I've taken him before and we had a fantastic time, but it would have been good to have other adults to talk to at some stage over the week.
Thanks

First of all the best airport by far to fly into is MCO and you don't have to get a shuttle bus to most hire places at all!!!! They are in the building!!!!
Then he goes on to say how the hours drive is actually better than the 20 minute drive - Ok mate, after 9 hrs with the kids doing my head in i really could do with an hours drive!!!
Then...
"BA or Virgin are the best airline to fly to Orlando with"....... Hmmm, funny that since both airlines fly to MCO - The airport you advise AGAINST using..????? But his personal favourite - Thomson :rotfl:The Summer Holiday of a Lifetime0 -
Thanks for answering my last questions.
I have paid for all tickets etc, sorting spending money out now. Was going to take just cash as in dollars is it best to change it at say Thomas Cook somewhere like that or the likes of the post office. If I dont spend it all are you allowed to bring any currency out of usa. Any limits taking in and taking out.
Also the 2 older children age 11 and 9 taking spends. was thinking of £5 or $5 per day. would this buy an icecream at theme park or alittle trinket etc. how much are these things. I want them to have enough but also not spend silly.
Can you still post postcards from Disney, thought I didit 20 odd years ago and they franked the card with a special ink stamp
where can I find a list of the height restrictions for the theme parks. looked on main site and cannot see it.
