  • you can hire special needs strollers (and baby ones) from https://www.orlandostrollersrentals.com/Step2.aspx?PID=5

they have very good reviews and i have seen their reviews on the forums etc the deliever to the place you are staying on and off disney and pick up at the end of your hols - so you have it to get back to the hotel and on days not doing disney - works out slightly cheaper as well :money:

i'm planning to hire one from them for our trip in oct :j- my son will be 9 then he has adhd and sensory difficulties - he doesnt use stroller at home but when we went paris and portadventure we used their metal ones but these look brilliant

if you look here - they show http://www.facebook.com/pages/Orlando-Stroller-Rentals/139990280101?v=wall#!/pages/Orlando-Stroller-Rentals/139990280101 phots so you can get idea of size :)

    hope this helps

. Someone mentioned the pirate makeover thing they do at Downtown Disney (I think) but this doesn't really appeal to him. Is there a way I can arrange a cake at one of the restaurants or something along those lines?

    Any help appreciated. TIA x

There is a cake hotline (only at Disney ;) ) that you can ring and order custom cakes from to be delivered to a WDW restaurant - it's not cheap but I can dig the number out if thart would help??

An 8th birthday sounds like a brilliant excuse for a character meal to me - they will make a fuss of him especially if he wears a birthday badge (free from Guest Services at any park). Who are his favorite characters so we can suggest some restaurants if that appeals to you?

I have just been looking at prices for the eurostar and they look really good. I haven't travelled via the eurostar before, but hopefully it will be an easy journey to undertake especially with my 3 children.

Just to check that you know this is the Walt Disney World (in Florida) thread rather than the Disneyland Paris one?

If only we could take the Eurostar :D

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for the replies regarding ideas for my son's birthday when we are in Florida - in just over two weeks time now!! I will definitely make sure we get him his birthday badge from the park when we get there as everyone has said how kind everyone is to their children when they wear one.

KarenG - the cake idea sounds fab. I don't mind it being a bit costly as he won't be having a party with friends this year, so can justify it that way!! However, we're not staying at a Disney resort - we have hired an apartment in Kissimmee - did you mean you have to be staying in Disney to arrange that?

Thanks everyone for all your help - really appreciate it x

OOh, forgot to say KarenG - my nearly 8 year old is a real softie. He loves Mickey best of all, closely followed by the Monsters Inc characters. He loves Toy Story too. Thanks again x

If he likes the Monsters Inc guys, you can get his photo taken with them at Disney's Hollywood Studios :)

If he loves Mickey, you could consider doing a characters meal at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort. It's right next door to the Magic Kingdom - you can walk or take the monorail. The Contemporary is the hotel that looks like a concrete toaster :D and the monorail runs through it which will probably be pretty cool for your 8 year old.

It's fine to make a dining reservation if you are not staying onsite :)

I absolutely recommend making a reservation in advance, and if you do that you could also order a cake on the cake hotline on (001) 407-827-2253. Here is some info on the Disney website about how to do it:

Have a lovely trip - can't think of a more wonderful place for an 8 year old to have their birthday :T

Haha, thanks for letting me know, and no I didn't know this. Although it would be alot easier if we could take the eurostar to disney world in florida.

I have only been to Florida to play golf with a few mates, so I am yet to take my children to the 'proper' disney world.

    Hi,

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I searched and came up with nothing..

We have just booked a hol to I Drive (our first visit to Florida) for next Jan for 2 weeks.
We got a good price for the package holiday but are unsure whether to add the theme park tickets on to the holiday?? We have been quoted for the 14N disney park tickets which includes all parks, and the Orlando flexi plus 14N aswell- £1700.
It seems alot to us, even though we knew they weren't going to come cheap.. Is this the best way to buy the tickets or is it cheaper to buy them once over there?

Thanks for any advice you can give

    sweet x
  • Sweetpeas,

I've just paid £1,500 for 21 Days Disney Ultimate tickets, 14 days Universal & 14 days Seaworld/Aquatica for 3 adults & 1 child (well it's 2 adults & 2 children but eldest DD is 10 so she's classed as a adult for the theme parks).

It's usually a LOT cheaper to buy over here tbh, especially Disney as you can get the Ultimate tickets.

Can you let us know how many adults & children in your party? Children's tickets for the theme parks only go upto age 9 HTH
2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please

Hi Princess, sorry- I meant to include that lol.

    There 2 adults and 2 children (5,7).

I think the Disney ones were ultimate.. but it still seams expensive compared to yours doesn't it.

Is that the price you paid over there then?

    Thanks for replying x
