Thanks V, because of DS we are hoping to be near HH but she told me to call back with 10 days to go. I debated between HH and TP to be honest, I just want to be near a stop in case he is deciding that he is not walking. More so when he is tired.

No, we've not done OKW before. We looked at it on Google Maps and it is HUGE. Scary huge. We will not be driving so want to be sure that if we run out of milk we do not have a 10 mile trek to get it!!

    Hi blue,

OKW has an internal shuttle bus that runs every 20 mins. It goes from Hosp House to Turtle Pond. You can also walk it, but its quite a long way. To get from Turtle Pond to hospitality house you can take any of the buses as Hosp House is the last stop, so you'll have a bus along at least every five mins if not more frequent.

I'd also recommend taking the boat to Downtown Disney at least once, its quite lovely. All transport connections within the resort are free and we always use them and find them very reliable.

Can't remember how old the children are, but the other thing worth remembering is most of the buildings at OKW have no lifts, so if you're going to be needing to carry stuff up and down stairs, ask for a room on the lowest floor.

Hi, can anyone tell me if its poss to get the lynx bus from i drive to the disney parks please? I've been on the website but still not sure what Im doing! Or is it better to taxi to the parks as we dont have a car....thanks

From Universal/SeaWorld we was paying around $28 return and we was staying in a hotel that was just on the 192 as it goes into World Drive.

As an example I've put in Sea World as a starting point for the Lynx to go MK Transportation centre and it has come up with the following:

Route Origin Depart Destination Arrive Direction Distance
Walk HILTON GARDEN INN ORLANDO AT SEAWORLD 09:43am
6800 WESTWOOD BLVD and ACADEMIC DR (SIDE: SOUTHBOUND) 09:44am North 0.06 miles
LINK 111 6800 WESTWOOD BLVD and ACADEMIC DR (SIDE: SOUTHBOUND) 09:44am
    1400 TICKETING/TRANSPORTATION CENTE (SIDE: NORTHBOUND) 10:11am West 8.33 miles
Travel Map Total time:: 27 min Walking Distance: 0.05 miles 8.36 miles
Find out more by visiting our Fare & Transfer page. Regular:
    $2.00 Reduced:
    $1.00

There are buses every 30 minutes and the journey is 27 minutes total which is a good journey time to be honest. Rather glad I did this as that hotel is near the one we are staying at so we can get the Lynx bus too. They were very reliable and did tend to run on time and not any that did not arrive.

Click on this and put in your starting point: http://trip1.golynx.com/

Your destination will be Ticketing/Transportation Centre. Handy to download the maps/times/bus numbers before you go and you can plan your journey the night before. This is what we did, there is so much to do you should really plan.

This is where all of the buses go and where the MK car park is and you then get the monorail to the Magic Kingdom Entrance.

Thanks Viv, buses that often? That would be great then, thank you. Yes, more if we have to carry DS it is a worry as he is getting heavy. I want to take his disability buggy because it is a godsend when it is busy, I took him to DLP and he went to the buggy when heeded somewhere safe and it helped alleviate any meltdowns. Could not believe the difference it made. However, it's a bind on having it with us and making sur eyou remember where you put it. Was going to rent a stroller but at $18 a day is going to work out very expensive for 3 weeks and then we still have to get him back to the apartment from the MK.

I am no OKW expert like vivatifosi but I have to agree that Turtle Pond is a lovely area to stay. The pool at Turtle Pond is nice and there are rarely many people there :)

The buses are handy to get around on.

I seem to think that we sometimes got on a park bus (there's one every few minutes) to get to HH rather than using the internal shuttle, but I am doubting myself now about whether it stops at HH before leaving OKW for the parks (if I'm right that would save you waiting for the internal shuttle). Can anyone confirm? Apologies if I have this wrong :o

One small drawback about having a ground floor room can be the shrubbery which can encroach a bit on the light in the apartment. It's not a biggie to me but thought I'd mention it as some people don't like it.

The boat to DTD is a must-do :)

    Hi all,

Just wanted to pop on here and say thanks to the posters who have answered my questions - very helpful, much appreciated!!

Just one more question though (sorry!) - my little boy will have his 8th birthday whilst we away. Does anyone have any ideas of anything we could do on his birthday out there to make it even more memorable? I suspect he will want to spend most of the day in one of the Disney Parks - not sure which yet. Someone mentioned the pirate makeover thing they do at Downtown Disney (I think) but this doesn't really appeal to him. Is there a way I can arrange a cake at one of the restaurants or something along those lines?

    Any help appreciated. TIA x

You have to get the internal shuttle from HH, but from the TP bus stop you can take any bus. Unless you take the internal shuttle, HH is always the last stop. Hope that clarifies.

Blue, I'd definitely take your sun's special buggy.

Absolutely, I'll go for Turtle pond then. Thank you, that really is very, very helpful. People have said it is lovely there over on Dis.

I think we'll take the buggy too, even if we do not use it.

They do some special events in the evening that are ticket only, see if there is anything when you are away - look on events on the WDW website.

If you are going to book a restaurant please, please book it very early otherwise you may be diappointed when you get there. My friends could not get into Cafe Mickey and they tried booking in advance. Have a lovely time.
  • I have just been looking at prices for the eurostar and they look really good. I haven't travelled via the eurostar before, but hopefully it will be an easy journey to undertake especially with my 3 children.
