  • My HSG was today. I'm a bit shell shocked to be honest as it showed I have two ovaries, but only one fallopian tube and half a uterus (a unicornuate uterus). Apparently it's very rare. It's never showed up in other tests/ scans. I'm gutted. Read up on it on the internet and the chance of miscarrying if pregnant is 60%, I'm 60% more likely to only have one kidney, 5-20% chance of total infertility and if pregnant not likely to carry to term and will 95% have to have a c-section as there is no room for baby to turn so would be breech. Don't see the consultant until May. Don't know if they'll consider me for Clomid as there's no guarantee that when I do ovulate it's from the connected ovary as usually the non-connected ovary is the dominant one and ovulates more frequently. Utterly devastated. I don't know what to do.
  • Congrats again lilymay!

TCD - I'm guessing that no-one will have any experience on this but from what you have said, maybe an option is straight to IVF. Sorry but can't recall enough to know if you might meet 'criteria' for this?

I can understand that you are stunned by this diagnosis, but if you could get pg through IVF & you were monitored & could carry close to term then you could have a healthy baby.

Was it a doctor that told you the results today? Have they recommended any further tests re kidney?

Could you ring the hospital & see if there is anything they can do to give you an earlier appt - even if it's just 'standby' at this point. Is paying for an earlier private appt an option? You can have a private appt & then go back into the NHS for treatment.
