lily - your post about a strong opk on CD5 (I think?) caught my eye. Clomid can mess up opk results for a week or so after you finish taking it, so it's worth keeping an eye on the other signs (cm/temp/etc) too, just in case.
Thanks Tea. My OPK on CD5 wasn't strong as such, just quite visible which was reassuring. I didn't know what it could mess with OPK's though so thank you. My OPK's are gradually getting darker so I'm feeling hopeful. As I said, I've been very 'wet' for a few days now but it's all been very watery and egg-whitey but bloody. Meh, who knows. I'll just BD anyway and hope it works. If If it doesn't work on the 1st or 2nd cycles I'm going to pay for a private scan for the 3rd cycle to see if/how may follies I'm making.
Thank you to everyone for giving advice/reassurance. I am very grateful to have this thread to ask all my (no doubt) very silly questions14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Got home from work today to a letter off the ivf clinic. Initial appointment in 4 weeks! Excited and panicking all at the same time.got two lifts of consent form to fill in and a big leaflet of all the possibile treatments. A little daunting but so chuffed to see a slight light at the other end of the tunnel. Off to look for what to expect at the app.
Hope u r all well xxx0 -
Well today was first day of self gonal f nurse was happy so should I need another set of treatment I can do t myself so that's one positive
Self injecting was fine no problems doing which is a relief
Still feeling really tired so it must be side effect from treatment
Oh well everybody fingers crossed for scan on Wednesday so u can get ovulation trigger
Then the dreaded 2ww
Feeling positive so let's see how it goes
Anyone used home pg kits to test prior to due date???:A VK :A0 -
well done on the self injecting VK, I'm getting more uptight about that the closer it gets. The nurse I saw said that fatigue was a fairly common side effect-I have an essay due in for uni while I am on the Gonal F, eeek! She also said that most people have already done a HPT and know if the treatment has been successful before going in for their test and appointment.
Good luck at your appointment gettingthereslowly, my first one was a chat and bloods, mainly from mrh, as we already knew he had a problem, so not sure how typical our appointment was.
Hope everyone is well, we seem to be the only snowless place this week.0 -
I am so nervous about the injections!! (start a week on friday). It's not the injecting bit itself that bothers me - just the faffing about getting the right amount in the syringe, getting the air out, getting the syringe in the injector pen thing without it going off, etc.0

Tea lover were u given a demonstration kit? I got like a mini pack so I can keep stuff together and a few demonstration kits so I got to practice before doing it
It's a doddle once you try it
I got a DVD and everything on how to use it but never needed it so still sitting in pack
I'm thinking I will end up buying that first response hpt as it does it 4 days early I think this 2ww in particular is going to send me looney round the bend
I need my sanity:A VK :A0 -
Ooh a demo kit sounds good. I just got the actual kit - so a big bag of syringes, a sharps bin, etc. I did get a DVD but that's more about how to mix the menopur. The nurse explained it but it was so fast. We were both trying to take it all in but she raced through it all so quickly... you don't realise how much you didn't really understand till you get home, if that makes sense lol!0

Hi TL,
I'm doing the menopur injections now. I was a bit nervous the first time, but what the nurse told you + the instructions in the pack to remind you should be enough. It's not difficult, and the injections are easy enough.
Happy to help with any advice though. I'm taking 300iu from the 1200iu packs. So, that means I make up the solution, and then use the same vial for 4 days - then it runs out. I'm also still taking Synarel - not sure if that is normal.
My dose is high due to low AMH + the fact that it's my only shot. I had lots of follicles yesterday (11) after only 4 days of the injections, so I have a feeling they may reduce the dose after the scan tomorrow. To be honest, I'm quite happy with that, I know the focus is quality rather than quantity.
DH and I watched the baby makers BBC4 show last night. It was really good actually. Great for DH to understand more the risks and sucess rates. It really brought it home how hard it is. DH was asking me why IVF's don't take once the embryo is implanted back? I think that was news to him that is could fail even at that point.0 -
With the injections, the thing I tend to forget is to push down the syringe before you start taking up the menopur. There is a little pocket of air at the top - so you just squeeze that out first, then draw up the drugs.
If you forget, just squirt the menopur back into the vial, and start again. Don't rush in putting it back in, as you will create bubbles, and the less bubbles the better.
Last night there were some bubbles in the syringe when I had it ready. I did that thing they do on TV and lightly flicked the syringe. Worked perfectly! What would we do without TV to teach us things.0 -
Good luck with all your injections ladies! I used to draw up MIL's insulin, so less bothered about that bit and more bothered about the actual stabbing myself bit
I've been really down about ttc the least day or two. It just feels too impossible. I'm so confused about what my body is doing this cycle. I have cramps that feel like pre-AF cramps, but even if I did ov on cd 14 they're early even for a short lp (mine seems to be 10 days even on clomid). My cervix doesn't seem to be staying in one place long enough to convince me that I've ov'd or not. My boobs/nips aren't sore, and they always are after ov. Cm hasn't really dried up either yet. So cd21 and I've no idea whether to expect AF on cd25, or keep trying. And because my hormones seem to affect my other conditions flare up of symptoms, not knowing where I am in my cycle means I can't really preempt/explain my symptoms, iyswim?
So,
I feel like if I can't even ov properly/consistently with clomid, then we've got no chance (I know that's not logical, but it's how I feel). I'm convinced we'll have to have IVF and I'm also pessimistic about that working. It all just feels too hard and impossible and like a fairy tale ending that normal people like me don't get to have. If it was anything else, I'd've given up by now...
Sorry to be so gloomy, but feeling gloomy atm"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0
