MrsHappy - I had day of egg collection off and day after off which I really needed as felt quite uncomfortable. I had embryos put back in on Friday and was back in work on the Monday. My thinking was resting up over the weekend then going back to work mainly to try and keep my mind off it and also physically I felt ok as transfer literally takes minutes and doesn't require sedation unlike egg collection.

Peonie - sending huge hugs to you.

VK - glad appointment went well

T2D - hope bleeding stays away so you can have fun weekend.

BZ - clomid could be affecting cbfm so I would be inclined to take notice of your body signs rather than the monitor.

AFM - cd6 and start of sperm meets egg plan tonight. DH keeps referring to it as a "sex Fest" lets hope ov isn't too late this month as we will be knackered!

Thanks Primmer, I was thinking along the same lines-day of and day after collection off, then having a quiet weekend and back to work on the Monday. I'm trying to figure out when each stage will be as I'm not sure if I'm back for scan and Gonal F the week I finish the Norethisterone or the week after, really should give them a phone and ask.
Good luck with your sexfest :)

HyCoSy and HSG are 2 different procedures. The HyCoSy is considerably less painful or so my SIL tells me. Unfortunately I had the HSG!

Ah, sorry, I thought they were the same thing. I had the 'internal ultrasound' and a balloon of dye shoved up there. I did giggle to myself as I understood why people on these threads call it dildocam. :D

The leaflet they gave me beforehand said it can be "uncomfortable" and result in period type pains afterwards. Must have been lucky as I didn't suffer at all, phew!!

Sounds like you and I are on the same pathway. November - April is very quick in terms of appointments. Infact, getting your HSG done so soon after your first appointment is good going to! Well done! I was told only 3 months of clomid though, then onto IUI. We'll see what ends up happening at my April appointment though. Sort of hoping I will be pregnant by then :o

I thought it'd take longer for them to fit me in for the HyCoSy. They refused me in December but I got in on the second time of trying.

I was disappointed with April for the second appointment, only because at the first appointment they said it was an 8-10 week wait for the second, then the letter came and it was 5 months. If they'd been honest up front I wouldn't have minded so much. Ho hum. Still pretty good that all this is free with the NHS. :)

I'm pretty sure they said six months of Clomid at our first appointment, assuming my tubes were clear. So I think that's what they'll suggest at the second appointment but we'll have to wait and see.

Like you, I'm hoping I can cancel it!

Pink - I think 6 months of the drugs seems to be the norm for 'unexplained infertility', so I'm not sure why my FS said 3. I have to go back and see her in April (that's after 3) so maybe she will decide what to do with me then.
But...PMA. First cycle of clomid and all that. Who knows, it might work :)

Hi ladies just popping over from the ttc thread to say there is a show on bbc Iplayer about people going through ivf and they showed lots of ladies going through the egg collection & then embryo transfer, if you wanted to see it. It's called the baby makers. I'm quite a squeamish person but I found it a pretty reassuring thing to watch in terms of seeing how skilled & caring the staff were at doing it. And also how fast the procedures were! Good luck to you all I really mean that x
  • Hi all,
Will be joining you soon, may have tech question to ask. So better placed here.
OH and I have never had any children. OH 37 ME 36.
Me: blood works have come back fine, got another CD21 blood test tomorrow so they defo have DPO 7 blood test before I am referred on. I expect an appointment the a investigation to check tubes after.

OH: SA had one 7 years ago (with ex partner) show below in everything.
lastest SA shows problem is only sperm count Total showed less than 28 million. We were expecting a poor result of some kind.
Hormone tests have come back normal. He will be referred on now, no idea what will happen next for him.
But in the mean time another SA booked in March. He has taken wellman supplements for the last month.

One of my questions is I will have to approach work at some point about time off for appointments. How did you ask? I could swap shifts with some staff, but that can be hard at times being in a in charge role. Have kept back some AL just in case.

My work always had a very generous attitude towards medical appointments and I didn't have to 'ask' as such, merely advised that I had an appointment at such and such a time. However, you're clearly in a different type of role whereby someone needs to be doing whatever you do at all times (you talk about swapping shifts).

Unfortunately your legal entitlement to time off won't kick in until you're either pregnant or at an 'advanced' stage of fertility treatment. This typically translates as from embryo transfer onwards in IVF treatment. There was a recent ruling that meant that you're effectively treated as pregnant at that point (even if things subsequently don't work out) so your entitlement to medical appts is protected by law.

At the moment then you're in the situation where you're at the mercy of your work's medical policy. When it became evident that I'd need IVF to conceive I did confide in my staff manager. Obviously it depends on what type of help you need and what your relationship is like with your manager but it can be an enormous help if someone at work knows what you're going through. Until then you might just want to informally swap shifts, try to arrange medical appts for times when you're not working or take annual leave.

Good luck and welcome to the thread :)

Hi mrs happy gonal f jag was fine not sore will be self injecting on Monday so will reconfirm that with you then
I don't have egg collection as I am doing iui first
No side effects After anything I have been very tired but I wouldn't say it's directly related to medicines I am taking its possibly the excitement of it all and gutting of my house making me tired espesh since I was not well for the last 3 months of the year
But 2013 is here and a change is upon us all
    Let's hope onwards and upwards
As for time off work I work in emergency services I would have thought it would be difficult getting time off but my managers are great whenever I need time off I have just to say or give them a nod and that's me sorted its a shame all work places are not like that
    :A VK :A
  • Don't expect much to happen for a few months. I get on better with my manager now, was a bit iffy first 6 months (not new being the new girl out of area in a in charge role).
Yeah will have to be a sit down chat later on.
