Morning all,
Yes, Runner, I was just thinking the same thing when I saw you had posted. I always get a slight nervousness when I see a graduate posting on the TTC again. When is your scan?
Tea - I'm feeling the blues a little bit too. Will your FS be annoyed that you have 'wasted' this last cycle or is it just that you would rather clomid have worked so you didn't have to go to ICSI? Fingers crossed the latter works for you. How many cycles have you been on clomid?
Can I just ask a question for all the clomid ladies - did you all have follicle tracking? Are there any national clinics I can contact to get it done privately. I contacted one in Manchester but they charge £120 a scan and assume that I would need three starting on CD9. I don't much fancy paying nearly £400 for something that isn't necessary and won't affect things in any way, shape or form.
Zippy - Thanks for recapping your history for me. I don't login all that much and it's difficult trying to remember everyones history. you've really had a lot to contend with haven't you. Atleast things seem to be getting sorted now though and there are options if clomid doesn't work. Your weright-loss is amazing. Did you join WW or slimming world or something? I can't believe you've dropped 13 BMI points....that's just incredible!14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Hi all, the scan is on the 7th, i think everything is going ok, ive got all the symptoms, even started with sickness this time which is the first time in 6 pregnancys, but i'm still very nervous and won't relax until the scan is ok, as it all went wrong at the first scan a couple of years ago0
-
Great news runner, hope the scan goes well. Just take it easy and don't do too much. I had no symptons and was scared but 26 weeks on and everything seems on track.
Sorry I have no clomid experience and send hugs to anyone who feels blue. Lets look at 2013 as a whole new year and be positive.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM0 -
Lily, my private FS suggested a scan on CD11 - although he said try 2 cycles without it.
After the first unnsuccesful cycle, I decided to go for the scan as I wanted to give it the best opportunity - we're not going to do IVF so this is our last method of assistance.
I'm meant to be on Clomid for 4 cycles (although have sufficient meds for 6, so we'll see).
Last cycle I had the scan on CD11, he said he wanted to give the eggs a bit longer to grow. I then went for a trigger injection on CD13 which meant ov was 38 hours later (so we could time BDing). That said, we haven't been successful. We know the swimmers are there & can swim & we know there were eggs. They just didn't want to get it together!
It cost £180 for the scan & £20 for the injection.
He said that CD11 is the best day for the scan so I've booked again for January. It's a lot of money to have something inserted for 2 minutes!
I don't know if there is anywhere where you can just have the scan unreferred as I was seeing the FS privately anyway.
OH was away for a few days leading up to ov so there was only one BD (although perfectly timed). In January I think we may BD just before ov too if poss as the sperm should still be around!0 -
TTC - Thank you for the very useful post. The only real point for me would be to know if clomid was actually working. Correctly timed BD will never be an issue for us so it seems like I would be wasting money. Just out of interest, how many follicles were you producing? I am mildly concerned about multiples as my pregnancies are difficult enough even as singletons.
At my last appointment I was told I would have 3 cycles of clomid, then onto IVF. Or rather IUI I think more likely. My hospital doesn't do anything more than ovulation induction so I'd be referred somewhere else apparently.
Maybe I will book a scan for cycle 3 of clomid provided it doesn't work before then. It would be useful to know if it was actually working for future reference I suppose..
God I hope I get pregnant next year14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Hi runner, thanks for your reply. I know I have quite some time then lol sending you lots of luck for your scan xxx0

I think I had one which was the right size & a couple of smaller ones, which was why he wanted to leave them to grow another day or so.
What's the 'norm'?0 -
Just googled my own question & found this on another forum
I am not sure what the norm is , but I kind of had the same problem with the clomid. I ovulate regulary on my own, but started on 50 mg of the clomid and had 2 follies the first 2 cycles. The third cycle, I only made 1 so they upped my dose to 100 mg for the 4th cycle and I still only made 1. I knew someone else who made 5-6 follies on the clomid, so I think it is dependent on your body. But my doctor recommended we move on to injectibles because you should have success after 3 cycles on clomid and we already did 4. Is this your first clomid cycle? Some dr's aren't so quick to move you on because injectibles with IUI increase your chances of multiples. Hope you get the info you are looking for. Good luck and lots of baby dust to you. Hopefully one follie will be enough!0 -
What's the 'norm'?
Gosh, I have no idea. From the googlings it seems like 50mg can produce 9 mature follies in some women and none in others! Same with 100mg.
I've seen a lot of posts with people saying they had 2 or 3 'mature' ones and either ended up with singletons or twins. Quite a few people saying they ended up with trips on 50mg too.
I'm sure the statistics are skewed though. I know they say the chance of multiples is 8%-10% but a few people seem to think that includes all the people who take clomid and don't get pregnant. So infact the chance of a successful multiple pregnancy is much higher.
Who knows. I will be very very grateful for anything I get. I must say though, I've been really shocked at the number of women who take clomid to try and have multiples. There's a website 'TTC twin's.com (or something similar) and it's full of stories of women buying clomid from dodgy online websites and taking high doses. I suppose desperation (or stupidity) makes us do crazy things.14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Hi all, not sure if any of you remember me as I've not posted for a while.
Just thought I'd update on the situation with my wife and me. We've been trying for around 10 years, I'm 39, wife is 36 and neither of us have had children. After not conceiving for around 6 years with clomid and just about everything else, we tried ICSI and it failed. 9 eggs were produced but none fertilised. We were told all of our test results were fine (my SA was low when we first had our tests but were fine subsequently - my wife also suffers from endometreosis).
We were about to start our second ICSI in 2010 and my wife found out she was pregnant - she had already started taking the down regulation drugs. Unfortunately we lost our little girl at 20 weeks (suffice to say it was a terrible experience). My wife had been bleeding a lot throughout the pregnancy due to placenta previa and the placenta breaking away at various points.
That all happened around 18 months ago. We were planning on trying another IVF cycle in 2013; however we've just found out she is pregnant again. It's only around 7 weeks at the moment but we're keeping everything crossed. So far there isn't really any bleeding which is great news.
When my wife first became pregnant we tried to work out what was different about that month in the hope we could recreate it again, unfortunately we couldn't think of anything that was different. On this occasion, the only thing that is different is that my wife has changed jobs (she's enjoying her current job more than her last role) and around 3 months ago I started taking the Wellman conception tablets for men (made by Vitabiotics). Obviously I've no idea whether the tablets helped, but just thought I would let everyone know.
I have been in two minds about whether to post because we both know how hard it is to hear about someone else falling pregnant (even if you don't know them). We've been through all of the emotions of anger, helplessness, loss, sorrow, self-pity etc and it is so tough. I wish I could wave a magic wand for everyone on here - I just thought I'd post in the hope that people can get some encouragement.
I hope 2013 is a great year for you all.0
