Thanks for the kind words ladies. I know I'd have a go at anyone else who suggested the same, but ...I still can't help feeling like a let down :o Also can't help but think we've tried everything (except IVF) and it's just not enough.

I just feel like it's a conspiracy.:o All the mothers/fertiles of the world have gathered together and decided I'm not good enough to be in their exclusive club, so they won't tell me the magic word. The 'abracadabra' that makes the magic happen.

Don't ever feel like that. You are not a fail in the slighest. Have a hug :grouphug:

If you don't mind me asking, would you do a recap of your story so far? I know you're just about to start cycle 3 of clomid but if you don't mind, could you go over the story that's got you here?
Came off BC (Marvelon) Sept 2010. Pains at random times of cycles, so scan arranged (endo suspected by at least me, due to family history of it with sis&niece etc). Scan at beginning of 2011 showed PCO, referred to gynae. Gynae called for blood tests etc. Also had a GTT (glucose tolerance test) which showed Impaired Glucose Tolerance. Gynae confirmed PCOS with scan & other symptoms & prescribed Metformin. Couldn't confirm or rule out endo as you need a laparoscopy for that, but couldn't have one til BMI was under 35 (it was 43 at the time :o). Told to come back in Sept 2011 if not pg. Went back in something like Dec 2011, had lost weight, but not enough ;) Went through the further test referrals - further bloods for CD 2-5, CD21, SA for DH, HSG for me. SA was "well within normal, also told my bloods were "normal" but no further info given. Took a long time to arrange the HSG due to MIL dying & because of my erratic lengthly bleeds - put on Norithisterone in order to get the HSG done - found blocked tubes. Told nothing could be done for them, but then had a laparoscopy, dye & hysteroscopy in Oct 2012, dye sneaked through slowly - FS wonders if my tubes were twisted originally. Endometriosis found and some removed via diathermy. BMI down to 31 and cycles down to once a month for the last couple of cycles since being on the Norithisterone. Put on clomid 50mg x1 cd2-6 for 6 months. If not pg by (can't remember if it's March or May, my next appointment) the end of the 6months, and I've reached 29 BMI (10lbs to go ;)), then I'll be referred to the ACU for IVF. FS said they only offer 1 round of IVF, but that includes FETs from that cycle - but then looked at my postcode and said I might qualify for 2 rounds...*shrug*

Think that's about it, as a summary...? Is that about what you wanted to know?

Sorry, that got a bit depressing! It's been the most amazing holiday, and I'm so pleased we came. It's just very scary now coming home.
Don't apologise! I'm really glad you've had a crackin' time over there, and don't blame you for your reluctance to come home  Good luck with your scans tomorrow (I think it's tomorrow, right?) :)

Hope everyone else is doing okay. Zip - how are you today?
Crampy, heavy AF (still trying to avoid the tranexamic acid and it's getting heavier each AF, it seems), grumpy ;)

I've ordered a box of CBFM sticks so hopefully they'll get here soon, so I can use them from cd6-ish. Considering getting Conceive Plus (already have Preseed) and/or digi ov sticks, mainly for something different to have tried. :o When I put everything in my basket and it added up to over £60 and the idea of shelling out so much on a baby I can't even conceive seemed a bit ridiculous :o:cool:

Other than that, our neighbour reached the end of her battle with leukemia yesterday, which brought up a lot of memories and emotions for me and DH and has upset us, for the loss of her and for the loss of MIL.:o
    TTC madness setting in.

Welcome Carly  - I can imagine how frustrating it would be to have 2 different doctors etc - do you know if you'd be entitled to any help from the military docs? My impression is that if either of you have a child already (except in certain circumstances) they won't offer anything much on the NHS, by way of assisted conception

zippy that's exactly how I feel, like everyone knows how and tells me the theory but yet there's never a bunny in the hat and I'm so scared there never will be :(

welcome carly, I think I googled the name of the pct and assisted conception to get mine's guidance although Lord knows how it will change come April.
have you and your husband definitely had 12 cycles of trying, ie him being around at the right time? that would be my argument to the doctors, they may not have been altogether but you've had the 12 months it takes a 'normal' couple conceive

with regards to your cycle I'm afraid the doctor is right, any pregnancy no matter the outcome can change your cycle, so it looks like you have a new normal. I had a miscarriage around the same time as you and afterwards I stopped ovulating x

hi carly, i was in a similar situation although not the army, but i have 2 grown up kids and my hubby had none, we did not qualify for any nhs treatment although our doctors did have a meeting and Agreed to do all our immune and blood tests which saved us hundreds, i would think as you have a daughter you will have to go private too if you need ivf, i don't know about chlomid etc though, can you change doctors, or look for a private clinic who would do tests for you.

Thank you for all your replies :-)

Going private is something we just cannot afford :-(

The military doctors are much better & a whole lot more sympathetic than mine. They've told my husband to go back in March if we still haven't conceived by then but were not sure about the hospital down there due to the fact I don't live in that area.
    But we can only see.

Yes we've definitely had more than 12 cycles. When he's not on leave or away on tour, he's based away from home but comes home every Fri evening to Sunday evening. They say this isn't trying enough, whereas my argument is that we try every weekend & sperm can live inside you for several days so I don't see how that can be classed as not trying enough after almost 3 years.

We'll just have to wait until March it seems & see where we go from there :-/

Wishing you all the very best of luck x

Welcome Carly - we didn't qualify for assisted conception as my DH had a daughter from his previous marriage. I do think its really wrong as I don't have a child and we don't have one together. As a result we paid for one go of ivf but unfortunately it was unsuccessful and we can't afford to pay for anymore. Really hope your oh doctors are more helpful in March.

CD2 here so start 3rd Clomid round today.

Rubbish period pains & need to go shopping for something to wear for NYE. I am overweight anyway & seem to have grown around the middle since taking Clomid so nothing fits me.

    Joining Slimming World next week!

Hopefully I'll be able to get an appointment to see FS for a scan on CD11 & get the trigger shot again so we'll know exactly when I ov.

Feeling pretty despondent about the whole thing. Last NYE, OH (who is a man of few words) said maybe we would have a baby for this NYE :(.

It's a year today since we first went to the GP to talk about inability to conceive. We have (theoretically) been able to conceive since June when my tubes were unblocked.

Just feels like a lot of time & money wasted as we haven't suceeded.

    Morning ladies,

seems like we've all got a touch of the post-christmas blues on here. I've had a stinking cold since boxing day and am feeling v sorry for myself. This is our last clomid cycle before ICSI and I've wasted it by taking meds I shouldn't and not BD'ing for aaaages. I've felt so rough that I haven't really cared. Not sure I'll be saying that on 8th Jan when we have our ICSI intro appt.

CD26 today but no idea at all whether I've ov'd yet as I've totally lost track of everything. Bit annoying as I like knowing when AF is likely to show up.

Big new year hugs to you all. Here's hoping 2013 is the magic year for all of us xx.
  • Hi Ladies,
Havent been on here for i dont know how long! havent been on the forum even but time to get back into it all.

I have a little question. Last June we got referred to heath in cardiff for assisted conception. they told us it would be approx 12 mnths for an appointment. anyone with any experience of how long it took? and then how long after first app to any procedure starting?

Need to get a move on with a few things and wanted a rough timescale to aim for.

Sorry for the quick question. will be back soon to read back and get into it all again properly.

Hugs to those that need them and hi to anyone that remembers me (hoping that you have all left mind in a nice way of course)

hi, we first went to ivf wales cardiff but we had to go private and even then it was slow, we waited well over 6 month for our treatmen despite me ringing all the time as when you are paying the wait should not be too long, we moved clinics then after a failed attempt i could not get a follow up appintment for over 2 months, so i rang CRGW and had an appointment in under 2 weeks and we had started the next treatment in under 2 months. so i'm sorry to say dont expect it to move fast as even between appointments they take a long time
