Can I just ask, what is maca supposed to do? It is similar to Soy Iso?
From vague recollection, I thought it was similar to agnus castus - a hormone stabiliser/regulator...? Could be off track now though, it's a while since I registered it's existance
Is it possible for my ovaries to already be aching (cd7) from the clomid? It makes you end up with more estrogen than normal (if it works, cos it's blocking the estrogen receptors, or something??), right? So in theory I should get more ewcm..? Am I remembering right?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
Just popping on for a rant  boss today asked if I was going to have another go at ivf. I explained that that we had used all our savings etc last time and could not just find £5,500 for icsi but would have to decide early next year. She said that if we couldn't find money, didn't have treatment and didn't have a child "it was not the end of the world". Well may be not for her who has a son:mad:
I hate people who say things like that. I feel like saying ’OK, so would you give him up? What would you accept in exchange? Money, career, travel? ’ they know its no replacement.
Anyway primmer, ive been meaning to mention to you that ivf its cheaper at my private fs. Its 2650 +1000 for icsi, or 5600 for three ivf +1000 each cycle if you want to add icsi. They say the three its good as it puts less pressure on you as you only chance. Still expensive, but I think cheaper than your numbers - although I'm sure they are other costs.
Its in London, but might be worth it. The London women's clinic.
I'm writing on a tablet, so apologies for any random words!0 -
Sigh. .. I'm going to stop opening post on the weekend. Another terrible test result -Ttc probably off the cards for a few months. Cin3 smear result. Not sure how much more of this I can take!
And post arrived too late to call my gp who shuts at 12, so I'll have to try and find somewhere private at work on Monday to call. Oh joy.0 -

lilymay, maca root is said to help regulate hormones. It is supposed to 'aid fertility' and help with pmt and irregular cycles. It apparently boosts libido in males and females and can increase semen in men. Also helps boost energy. Sounds like good stuff and a friend of mine swears it helped her get pregnant after trying for 12 months one month of maca (her and her dh) and voila. Google had plenty of info to read.
Soy iso's block eostrogen, so forcing your body to make more (and therefore ov)
bz - I thought Clomid was supposed to dry things up. But is it eostrogen that makes you get ewcm?
Hugs time2dealIf at first you dont succeed, try, try again0 -
I think so, rum, but then I don't understand why clomid is said to dry things up in that case...? I'm confused!
I guess if it works I won't care about the science, but having said that - I'm beginning to get a little worried about how much I'm daydreaming about it (+ surgery etc) working...:o I'm so scared out getting my heart broken again

Thanks for this Rum.
Doesn't sound like I would benefit from maca but soy has definitely done something to my cycle this time round. I took 200mg from CD3-7 and had atleast a 5 day LH surge (ran out of OPK's after that). FF is saying I ov'ed on CD16 but I'm sceptical! I also had very little EWCM this cycle which is most unusual for me.
I will be starting clomid just before Xmas so am assuming it is going to have the same effect on my CM production - ie, dry it all up! :rotfl:. Might have to get some more pre-seed before then!

Me: you can do the monitor if you want
(I'd peed in a pot til I was more awake, and dh is excited about the new monitor/toy)
Dh:.ok, I'll go play with your pee(!) *trundles off* it's got two bars, what does that mean?
Me: ooh show me... It means "high"
Dh: *coming back from bathroom, stripping layers off with every step*
Me: we don't have to act on it right now!
Dh: I know, but ...the machine!
