Hi Runner.
Sounds like you are joining me in the walking pharmacy department.
I too take steroids (extended cycle) and clexane, other things also but they are the main 2. The clexane isn't too bad, I even managed to do a few myself this time round (10 years undergoing treatment so thought it was aout time I tried at least!) you get some pretty horrific bruises from them though at times. I don't like the steroids but I have to take a high continual dose, rather than reducing and the wean off them when we got our latest BFN was rough, steroid withdrawal isn't pleasant. I also take alternating stim injections, I have Fostimon and Merional though.
Fingers crossed for tis time around, you are doing everything possible :-)2 angels in heaven :A0 -

What is the steroid withdrawals like?, I have got another 2 weeks of full wack then withdraw 5mg a week for a further 5 weeks. I can't wait to come off them as I am constantly hungry.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM

Runner, good luck for november. When will you start the drug regime?
I'm doing ok, thanks. Had a melt down on dh last might, so mustn't be as ok as I'm purporting - but I'm mainly just angry that I go through so much with my body on a daily basis, pain etc wise (though I'm aware it could be worse) and yet it can't just do this one thing for me! It makes me mad.
I'm feeling quite trapped at the moment too, but that's a whole nother conversation. I just wish dh would start feeling better, it breaks my heart to see him break his.
It was our wedding anniversary last night, and we still ended up blubbing all over each other:o
Chickpea, I know logically FET must work, and they don't use "normal" freezing processes... I just can't get my head around it all
I'm certainly not knocking them as viable options for treatment.
I don't think anyone should go ahead with any kind of treatment, for anything, that they're not comfortable with - and for whatever reasons dh and I aren't comfortable with that, among other, type of ivf. It could well be fear and ignorance, and maybe naivete driving us at the moment, but until we get in front of the docs and get to ask these questions, we're stuck where we are. I am considering us going to an ivf open evening in the meantime, but I don't think either of us are quite ready for that just yet.

Great news Primmer, how wonderful.
The 2ww is crap, yup sorry it is the worst bit for pretty much all the people I have known who have had treatment.
Rest up as much as makes you comfortable, try to keep your mind occupied.
Best of luck, pleased you made it x2 angels in heaven :A0 -
The steroids are tablets, 4 a day to start with. Many regimes have you taking them on a reducing dose so 4 for 4 days then 3 for 4 days etc, this also minimises the withdrawal. Of course this may be different at other clinics.
I was on 4 a day every day from just after EC, would have been up to 20 weeks to keep my immune system from throwing a wobbler. I have had these during IVF cycles 6-9.
The longer you are on them, the worse the withdrawal in my experience. My worst symptom was continual chronic headaches, I have these for around a week after taking my final dose, no mattter how slowly I reduce my dose. Of course you may not get these at all, i'm a bit of an anomaly at times!
I will be going again in Jan/Feb. Going to ring on my first day 1 of the New Year and booking in for another e-scratch on my day 21, followed by stims starting on my next day 2, that will be in February I guess.
Hi BZ. The info sessions for IVF are quite useful, they hold them at most private clinics once a month or every 2 months, sure they do at NHS clinics also (of some clinics share Private/NHS) You get a group introduction where they tell you generally about the clinic etc, a tour of the facilities and a private chat (if you want it) with one of the nurses or sometimes doctors/consultants. Of course there is no rush, like you say we should only do stuff we are happy/comfortable with.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Great news Primmer!
I too was on steroids and have just finished weaning. It was fine until I got down to none at all, and then I had a total energy crash, whcih has taken a good week to get over. During the course I had a lot of sleep problems, and lots of anger. I was a delight to be around! Oh, and moonface, but that goes when you stop taking them.0 -
You are PUPO (pregnant until proven otherwise) Primmer!:j0
