  • So I just googled ultrasound scan and now know it doesn't cover blocked tubes. How do they investigate that? And would they do an investigation as standard? Just wondering what I'll be in for next. Only had the blood test to check how many eggs left and scan so far

WTDN - they can do a hsg test to check your tubes where they insert dye into your tubes to check for blockage. If initial blood tests and oh's SA are ok it is normally the next step.

BZ - glad you got on ok at docs and hope you start to feel a bit better. In terms of freezing embryos that are not used it is not as common as you think. At most clinics they will not consider freezing unless they are high quality and are what they call blastocysts which is 5 days after embryos formed and most don't make it that far - I think it is only 20%. This is because they have to be confident that there is a chance that will survive the thawing process.

    Hi everyone

Welcome newbies!! Hope your stays are short ;)

Got everything crossed for Primmer.. And I can't remember who else *ooops* I've been on hols to see my parents in Portugal (took DD out of school for the week ;) ) & I've caught up with you all on my phone but can't remember who I need to say what to!!

AFM I'm a day late *gasp*!!!! But I was a day or two late ovulating - no temps or opks this month so I am just guessing. I'm not holding my breath, or testing anytime soon.

    Hi chickpea :D

Great news Primmer, lets hope they get jiggy lots!!

BZ - one of the clinics I froze my embie on was day 2 and thats the one I got pregnant with! I know some clinics like them to get to day 4 or 5 and then know whether they are good enough to freeze. Hope you get on that waiting list soon.

    Fingers crossed onestep

  • Thanks primmer. Ah of course it's the hsg. I remember BZ recently had this. I get confused about the different procedures...
    Eek :(
  • Primmer - awww that's a good number, fingers crossed for you. Keep us informed.

We also had an embryo frozen at day 3. From our first IVF we only had two embryos, one was put back in and the other was frozen (the weaker one). That was the one we had put in during the FET in May. This time around we didnt have any to freeze which i am a bit pleased about, cos BZ i can see your point, not sure i could just leave a load of frozen embies to never be used. Also i dont have the faith in FET.

    good luck onestep, fingers crossed.

BZ - hope the meds sort the bleeding out, also sorry cannot offer any advice or recommendations re your tubes as i havent been through it, but i am thinking of you.

WTDN - We, should I say I, had the HSG as routine after the initial blood and SA tests

Yay for 7 eggs primmer. Glad it went well :D hope the next stage goes even better ;)

Ttc40 do you know where in your tubes they were blocked? Apparently there's a greater chance of success/range of options depending on where the blockages were. Is there no type of treatment you would consider trying? I know it's not for everyone, but would you consider adoption/fostering?

On my phone so can't reply to anything else. :o

Got some massive cramps again this morning and cd2's already kicking my a$$, but off to see the gp this arvo to see about getting the transexamic(?) acid the FS talked about but forgot to prescribe, as she said it would make the bleeding more manageable  I feel red raw inside down there & I've still got this cold that I've had for weeks, so I'm feeling sorry for myself today and might have to resort to watching Disney films on the couch ;)

Sorry, don't know where the blockage was.

Don't think we would consider adoption etc. I didn't think I ever wanted a family, it's a post 40 change of heart. I appreciate that others want to do everything they can to have children but I dont thnk we are at that place.

I dont post here often but I got my letter today from the fertility clinic telling me that I have got to the top of the waiting list for iVF. I have to phone them for an app and go to my docs to get a prep for the pill.

Im so excited yet scared and not sure what to do now. My partner lost his job a few months ago and we are not really financially ready for a baby at the min but Im so scared of losing my chance now.

Does anyone know what is the next stage after I take the pill for 3 months - ?

Sorry, in 9 IVF cycles I've never had to Take the pill so can't help you with that.
Have you had all the screening bloods/height/weight etc all done?
Normally if this is all done you get to a certain point in your cycle ( dependant on protocol) and start your meds that day, be it downregulation drugs or directly to stimulation injections.
    Good luck
