Ttc40, are you going to continue TTC/NTNP indefinitely, or go back and see the FS again?
I'm also wondering how they managed to clear your tubes, but they're so pessimistic about being able to clear mine...?

The FS said to try for a few months & then go back if not successful for some drugs. We haven't talked to each other about next steps. I still don't think IVF is for us. We will just have to come to terms with the situation. :(

When I went for the surgery he said that there was a range of techniques for clearing blockages. Mine ended up being relatively easy and could be flushed. If this was not successful, another option was to open me up & cut away damaged tube. I clearly had my head in the sand as didn't consider this until the discussion 30 mins before the op. He said that recovery would take weeks (as not key hole). This would have been difficult as I hadn't told anyone other than immediate colleagues that I was having any surgery.

Primmer - keeping everything crossed for you.

I am quite anxious about posting that i got a BFP this morning. Well actually i have had a BFP for the last 6 days. I only tested early as Hubby went away last week so we wanted to test together. I have tested everyday since as i havent quite believed it, but also it did cross my mind that as i had tested early it could be a false positive due to the meds. So i am in shock now.

a bit confused because I've had a letter through with an appointment and it says the hospital department is gynaecology. Is this normal? I expected a fertility clinic, but do you see gynae first to make doubly sure there's nothing obviously wrong?

Just wondering as if it is just a gynae appointment it doesn't seem that there's any need for MrTeapot to come along(???). I assume they'll be more interested in my side of things?

Hi teapot, you and me seem to be at the same stage which is nice :) had the preliminary gp blood tests and OH's sperm test ok. (well more than ok, doc said I must be feeding him raw meat and I was happy to tell him we're both veggie!)

Had first appointment at liverpool women's hospital last week and my letter said gynae dept but when we got there they actually sent us upstairs to the fertility dept. they had asked for my partner to go. I think you should take him with you if you go.

Had ultrasound scan yest- all normal. Luckily didn't have to have the internal scan. So now just waiting waiting waiting til nov for next appointment...

Lots of pregnant ladies in waiting room for scans. Two families had a big slanging match. I just thought you are unbelievable! Wanted to kill them.

Let us know how you get on teapot

ETO - thank you for the advice and congratulations - got everything crossed that all goes smoothly for you. :)

Whattodonow - nice to hear from someone at a similar stage, although I'm sorry you're going through it! Appointment isn't until late October so I'll let you know how it goes. :)

    Congrats ETO!!! Great news!!

I understand the reservations I was the same but then I never even ever had a sniff of a pregnancy. I had an early scan at 7 weeks which I assume you will too for IVF, fingers crossed this is a sticky one. Rest, keep calm and positive.

EC went well this morning, 7 eggs collected and they said sperm looked good too. Now have to wait for phone call tomorrow to find out if eggs and spermsbgot jiggy overnight. Feeling a bit of discomfort but the actual egg collection was fine on sedation. didn't really feel anything.

Congrats ETO! Brilliant news. Am completely with you on the mentalling thing - it's impossible not to. One day at a time. On another site I'm on we use the acronym pupo - pregnant until proven otherwise!

Yay for 7 eggs primmer. Glad it went well :D hope the next stage goes even better ;)

Ttc40 do you know where in your tubes they were blocked? Apparently there's a greater chance of success/range of options depending on where the blockages were. Is there no type of treatment you would consider trying? I know it's not for everyone, but would you consider adoption/fostering?

On my phone so can't reply to anything else. :o

Got some massive cramps again this morning and cd2's already kicking my a$$, but off to see the gp this arvo to see about getting the transexamic(?) acid the FS talked about but forgot to prescribe, as she said it would make the bleeding more manageable  I feel red raw inside down there & I've still got this cold that I've had for weeks, so I'm feeling sorry for myself today and might have to resort to watching Disney films on the couch ;)

Back from the docs and got some transexamic(sp?) acid for the bleeding, so hopefully that works. I think the progesterone has been setting off my fibromyalgia symptoms, so I'm really hoping this works as an alternative and my nerve endings can settle down. In the meantime, at least with no chance of pg I've got the all clear to get goofy on painkillers :p;)

I explained about our reservations over the different IVF protocols etc, to my GP too, and said I would like to talk to them/find out whether they only offer a sort of standard protocol, type of thing. That if they wouldn't do the mild/natural cycle protocol then there'd be no point in waiting til I've lost the weight and then gotten through the 18wk waiting list, to only just then get to talk to them and decide their options aren't for us. We may as well go straight to private in that event. So he said to contact his PA (who we also know personally, but that's another story!) and she'd try and find out for me - he agreed they probably wouldn't talk to us in advance of an actual appointment with them.

He was also stunned they hadn't yet put me on the waiting list (cos he's so impressed with my weightloss so far :D).

    How you doing sarah?

Are you in any pain/discomfort still, Primmer?

Looking forward to hearing about your healthy scan in a couple of weeks juju :)

QQ have you and DH talked about if/when you'll try IVF/ICSI again?
