We usually make blastocysts, so there is no need for AH but this last time we did not make the grade for some reason. I'm hoping it was just one of those things rather than a decline in general quality due to age or some other factor, we will have to see what happens in Jan, if quality looks to be an issue I will ask about AH but I hope we can make it to blasts again. If only for the fact that the 2ww is shorter!

Well at least that is something making it to blasto, I have never had that pleasure. If implantation is a problem I think AH can help but who knows. Fingers crossed for next cycle. xx

Primmer is this your first scan? How long have you been stimming for? Very often you will have to go back a few days later for another progress scan before they book you in for EC, the first one just gauges your response and they may cHange your doesage based on the results.
    Good luck

Thanks for your post Lisa - Yes it is my first scan so will have to wait and see what they say about progress tomorrow. I will have been stimms for 10 days tomorrow so keeping fingers crossed it is working.
  • Good luck with the scan Primmer. I had my first stims scan on the Monday, then again on the weds. Then went in for EC on the fri. But I know how different everyone is. I'm sure I had less scans this time than usual. It also depends on the clinic/ hospital protocol as they may be hoping the follicles are a certain size before EC. Whatever happens i hope you get the result you are hoping for.

I am interested in hearing more, but for the reasons you mentioned, PM might be best..?
    Here's a pic too:

I've had one EC under GA, and 4 without:cool:

They clean you, then insert some metal thingy like in the smear, then they take that out, and off goes the eggy one by one. The needle pierces the vaginal wall, and pierces each follicle in turn. Sometimes the egg won't come away, in which case they'll fill the follicle with water to flush, but not always successful.

Bigzippy, just remembered, some people's ovary is at awkward places (behind colon or something like that) and in that case, you can't get at the eggs vaginally. Could your ovary be hiding too?

Back from doctors and it's good news, I am ovulating! She didn't give me numbers but LH,FSH and prolactin are normal, progesterone was too (managed to get a sneaky look at that and it was 31.7 so dunno how normal that is lol)
If I don't conceive within six months they'll give me clomid, the little spot on my uterus wall the lady mentioned during the HyCoSy is where my womb lining is interacting with the muscle but that doesn't affect fertility and they offered to refer hubby for an SA so he's doing that more for peace of mind.
I found it funny cos she kept telling me things I already knew but I had to let her cos she's the medical professional
She did mention my weight but only as a warning for if I need IVF, which is fair enough and is better they say it now than get to the point where I need it and then spring it on me
And I've gotta say it's so awkward when they're trying not to say 'you just need to have a lot of sex' lol x x

Ah ok, that pic makes it make more sense. I'll show DH cos he's not enjoying the idea of me getting "attacked" by all these needles and procedures, bless him. He said he's gonna be a wreck when I go for the lap - he said he's not impressed that "someone's gonna knock you out and drag you away from me" Awww  He said he's gonna be like a bear with a sore head while he's waiting...:o

Good question. I had to have a TV scan again on Tues, though they started with pelvic/abdominal initially. It didn't hurt as much as the first time (it didn't make me cry this time! :o), but it wasn't comfortable in a few places, specifically when they were looking for my ovaries. I guess I'll get a clearer picture when they've done the op and I (hopefully) get a full "report" from my (trusted) FS...

:T That gives you a year to lose whatever you feel you want/need to, which is great. And if they're happy to give you clomid in the meantime you can't be that far off anyway? :D
    :rotfl: at the awkwardness ;)

I went out for tea with a close friend last night and at the end of the meal she told me she was 14wks pregnant. I knew they were trying and she'd had the implant out in October, and I know she'd had worries that it might not happen and was concerned about treatment she'd had for precancerous cells etc, so I'm happy for her that it's happened - I wouldn't wish this roller coaster on anyone. But, it still stings :o

I know what she's like though, and what she was like with her first (who apparently loves me and wanted to come out for tea with us! :p), and I know she's gonna be really considerate. She looked terrified about telling me (I already had an inkling before we even met up), and was saying it was bitter sweet cos she was really hoping we'd have good news too. Bless her.:A

    But it still stings :o

...Isn't it funny how you try to convince yourself, with all these 'logical arguments', that deep down you're not gutted. :o
