QQ - good luck with the FET, is it just the one you got (like me)?. As my natural cycle didn't pan out it looks like a medicated one next for me. They like to put me on the pill for 10 days first so just waiting for AF currently CD33.

I am glad a I am not the only one in limbo. 6 years this journey has taken so far.

we can't book our next cycle yet as oh's chromasome test could take up to 10 weeks to come back, and we feel there is no point in spending the money until we are sure that they are ok as the IMSI will cost more anyway, we want to have done all we can first

6 years in limbo for us too

  • Thank everyone for your congratulations, I hope you don't mind if I linger for a bit longer as I don't feel any different at the moment and it certainly hasn't sunk in yet. Plus I have to get through my first scan in about 3 weeks to make sure everything is ok. Its still very early days. I can't believe its actually worked - Don't give up hope guys x

hi, it is quite new over here but by what i have researched it cuts the rate of very early m/c and has a higher sucess rate than icsi
here are a couple of sites about it

    http://www.ivfcliniclondon.com/en/treatments/imsi.html

we have discussed it at the clinic and feel it will give us a better chance :)

So it's basically ICSI but with well chosen sperm? I had previously thought that the sperm was already specifically chosen for the best chance of success, but apparently not! :o

AFM, after over a month of on and off AF, dh and I risked a BD today (I'd had only light spotting)... It seemed to have had an adverse affect! _pale_ (TMI warning) AF became incredibly heavy for about 5hrs from during/straight after :o soaking max tampax in less than half an hour, then nighttime specific pad in less than an hour, large clots etc. _pale_ I really hope this is the beginning of the end of AF now...I've had enough! :o

Yes, we only have the one frozen blastocyst.
My last FET cycle was cancelled due to low progesterone.
So I took a pill for 12 days, and I'm onto a medicated cycle (CD15):)

no, according to what we have been told it could still be the sperm, as under normal icsi they cannot look at them closely enough, but with this they can check the dna of the sperm before injecting it, and apparently according to our consultant they look at the head, and a lot can have spaces in the head and that will result in the embryo failing, and since they have failed to find any other reason for ours not working, we think it is worth a try, at least we will find out if they have dodgy heads or not :o

hope you are ok BZ, my af's are always that heavy, but thankfully only last a week at most, have you tried a femme cup (a brilliant invention) it will give you longer away from the bathroom :o

    Congratulations SS,
Hope everyone is well, good luck QQ.
AFM, I had my appointment with the genetic counsellor yesterday which was interesting, I now have a 4ww for results to see if I carry any of the CF gene changes. She has said that even if I do we could still try icsi as they can check genetics before transfer. It all seems very clinical and has freaked me out a bit! I also have more information about speaking to OHs sisters-as he carries a CF gene there is a 50% chance his sisters also have it, which could then impact on his nieces and nephews, so that is all a bit overwhelming as well.
anyway, yay, it's friday and I have a day off work! hope everyone has a good day x

    QQ - good luck

BZ - hugs, hope that's the start of af for you so you can move onto next cycle.

MrsH - it does sound clinical when they go into detail. I try to think that this knowledge is what will help me get my baby but it is daunting.

Runnerduck - that certainly sounds like something worth trying and I really hope it works for you.

    Hugs to all.
