Fluffnutter, I feel strongly that the baby is the Mother's, and my egg would be an outright gift. That's why I wouldn't want them to know who I am. I just wouldn't feel a connection at all.
If we go the IVF route with egg sharing (which we probably will, not just because of the money, but because, in theory, I would like to help someone). I will just have to take the risk that they may want to find me. However if it came to that I would just have to be honest I suppose.
Hopefully, any baby born as a result of my eggs would not want to find/meet me. Hopefully they would recognise that I gave a small part of me so their Mother could love and nuture them.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. dh stating that for the money we will have to pay for the treatment, the least they could do was lay on tea and biscuits :rotfl:Haven't broken the news to OH yet that he'll need to come with me for that one to drive me home. Really hope we can plan his SA for the same day.
I went alone for my HSG, and took the bus home:p
I went to my first EC with GA alone too, come to think of it. Slept again once I came home:o0 -
Heard from the fs yesterday that my referal for self-funded ivf has been faxed to the clinic and that I should hear from the clinic shortly with an invite to their next patient evening meeting where they explain about the clinic and the treatments available. Last night I was saying to DH how excited I was that things seemed to be progressing and that going to the meeting would make having ivf treatment more real - dh asked me whether I thought there would be tea and biscuits at the meeting - cue me disbelieving that this was his only concern  - dh stating that for the money we will have to pay for the treatment, the least they could do was lay on tea and biscuits :rotfl:
Hi Primmer. Glad it is all going well so far.
Is the process quick when you pay for IVF at a private clinic?I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."

It was for us. After your booking in appt (which was the week after I phoned I think) at which you're assessed and (hopefully) deemed suitable, there's no delay. Obviously, some tests take time and they have to schedule treatment to coincide with your menstrual cycle, but there's no waiting list as such."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
BM - yes going private is quicker as you don't have waiting lists as such, think we are told that after general patient meeting you are normally seen within two weeks and from there it depends on where you are in your cycle and what tests are needed. We have no choice but to go private as don't qualify for nhs funding but you still needed a referral from fs even if private for our clinic but think they all work slightly differently.0

Brilliant fluffnutter and Primmer, thanks for the info. I'm am on holiday Jubilee week and first week of Sept. So will contact clinics when I get back. Seems a bit daft not to get them out the way first. And have to build myself up to be "messed around with". Not keen on medial stuff (as I'm sure no one is) so just need a bit of time to get used to the idea.
I used to work for Asda and they gave you 2 weeks paid "IVF leave". Where I work now I'm sure they'll be sympathetic but will probably have to use holiday (not that I mind, just thinking out loud). Unless it counts towards a "medical" appointment.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. Had another scan today and my follies are getting there!! My biggest is 17mm and I have a couple at 16mm and a couple more at 10mm. They are going to let me go through for egg collection on Saturday. Just given myself my last Menopur injection then have got to give myself my trigger shot at 11.20pm.
Really didn't think I would get this far, talk about slow growers this time. Just sat waiting for 11.20 with my hot water bottle for that little bit of extra encouragement
Primmer - My hubby would say the say thing too LOL0 -

Shuffling work is hard when it's just the tests/treatments and you are not pg:o
Totally. When (not if, when) I get pg work can just stick it - I'll be taking as much time off as I need. But it is difficult at this stage as no one "official" at work knows anything about it.
I really, really don't want to say anything if I don't have to as with the upcoming relocation/redundancy talks that would put me at a disadvantage.
Oh well.... fingers crossed for a totally out of the blue natural BFP this month and then I won't have to worry about the other appts.:D0
