Ani, I have a friend who is diabetic and was told not to have any kids at all as she would go blind as she has already lost the sight in one eye. My oh is diabetic also and has had laser treatment on both eyes but you can only have a certain amount of this as it damages your vision and then you have to have an op which OH has just had. It's a tough decision but I think your health must come before anything else.
I have the other problem my immune is too bloody good it's not letting me get pregnant!

Feeling a bit low about it all at the moment can't even be bothered to meet my friends for dinner, especially as one of them is pregnant.

Murray - nice to hear from you, sorry it's not better news in the meantime..

I am surprised the consultant wants to do another Lap, but I'd go for it - unless you are paying..?

Sorry, don't know of any other way to check for adhesions - think lap is probably best for that, but I'm not an expert.

I had a cyst removed in my first Lap and no-one ever suggested scarring/adhesion - would that show up during a dildocam scan? Afraid I don't really know.

I begged my consultant for a 2nd Lap and dye but she refused, saying there was no clinical need (she was probably right, but I am desperate) so I had to pay for a Hycosy, which was clear.

Mind you, I didn't know about HSG not showing whether the egg could get into the tube to begin with though..something else to worry about..

    How old are you incidentally?

Thanks for the message Chickpea and sorry your consultant wasn't more forthcoming.

I'm not paying for the lap and am coming round to the idea that I might as well just go for it. At least he can have a good furtle around in there and look for anything out of the ordinary which will give me more peace of mind before we embark on our IUI/ISCI/IVF journey.

Another thing that is making me a bit 'chicken' is that I really dont respond well to general anaesthetic - my blood pressure drops and last time I ended up stopping in overnight on a drip...not very pleasant but hey, it was only one night.

    I'm 31 by the way.

I'm not sure that scarring would show up in a dildocam because I did ask him a few times whether there way to find out and he only said HSG or lap & dye.

Are they going to refer to you for IVF or IUI at any point? Or is having this followed by trying naturally again the only option for now?

If it was me, I think I would want another appt with the consultant to answer all of these questions and to find out what the steps are after the procedure i.e. will they refer for IVF. But, I would be guided by the consultant and if they thought that this was a good shot then I would probably go with it.

Thanks Staffie. The next step is IVF, IUI or whatever else they suggest and he has said that we can go straight ahead with that if we want but his recommendation was to have the lap again first in case there is still a chance of conceiving naturally. He really does seem to be a 'belt and braces' man which is reassuring.

They've managed to fit me in the lap fairly quickly so there isn't time to book in to see the consultant again. I spoke to his secretary and she suggested speaking to the nurses when I go in for my assessment so I will be armed with questions that they can take away and ask him!

    Thanks both :A xx

JuJu - sending hugs, it is hard particulary when you have pregnant friends.

Murray - good news that they can do the lap quickly and that after the consultant is happy to proceed straight to ivf or iui. Good idea about going to check up with nurses with a list of questions.

I have my first appointment with the fs on 26th of this month and it is all I can think about at the moment. No-one in RL knows about fs appointment or even that we are ttc and DH doesn't really like to talk about it and so it just goes around and around in my head.

Its been a very sad day today. My friend had a baby at 26 weeks on New Years Eve and he died at 7 weeks and I have been to the funeral today. I can't imagine what she and her partner are going through and puts my problems in perspective.

Feeling like everything is on top of me at the moment and I can't escape. I have my consultant appointment on Thursday and I hope I can get some answers and move forward.

    Hello All

Been lurcking for a few weeks as had nothing to update..

    Currently on CD 161

Went to docs Thursday.. Said need to go back in a couple of weeks when had ultra sound results. Decided to refer us to fertility clinic anyway as feels appointment will take 3 months..

Went for 1st Ultra sound today had the outside ultrasound and the internal one (which I wasnt expecting!!) Sonographor said 'off the record' ovaries have characteristics of PCOS but needed to look at the scans in more detail as may change her mind... very odd comment and not sure what to make of that now. She also said Dr should have repeated PCOS bloods as not had them for a long time.

Feel a bit disheartened.. this may sound strange but feel that want the diagnosis of PCOS as at least it will be an explanation for being over weight, no ovulation since Oct etc.. If the ultrasound and bloods come back normal I think i will actually cry.

    Sorry for the rant..

JuJu - Your post is so sad those poor friends of yours.. my heart goes out to them :(

    xx

I have extremely heavy scarring/adhesions that were not discovered until I had a natural ectopic in 2008. I had undergone many dildocam scans before then as I had already had 4 ICSI/FET's at that point and nobody knew it was there til I had the salpingectomy so I guess they do not show up on dildocam at all.
I also have horrendously low blood pressure and while I haven't had to stay in any extra nights because of it, it usually delays my release by a few hours til they realise it isn't going to come up much more and they may as well let me go.

With my first ectopic they removed a bunch of adhesions while they were in there and reopened my right tube as it was twisted and blocked. When I had my 2nd ectopic/saplingectomy they didn't bother to take any adhesions away, I guess it was kind of pointless at that point.

The nurse who was caring for me after my op (the 2nd op) did make me chuckle though. It is assumed that all my adhesions are from an undiagnosed case of chlamydia when I was much younger. That's fine by me, perfectly possible and i'm not embarrassed or worried by it (apart from the obvious health implications now). What made me laugh was the nurse coming to me after the op and whispering to me that it appeared that I may have had a chlamydia infection and did I want to make an appointment at the STI clinic when I was better. This was all said in embarrassed whispered tones.

I did point out to her that I was fully aware of the diagnosis and had been for years, I was an IVF patient and therefore had undergone a health screen yearly for these types of things and the infection was at least 15 years ago and not likely to respond to treatment.

Ahh the joys of an infertile person

Hugs to everyone that is needing some :grouphug:. Had a bad week, FIL went into hospital for an overnight stay for a small operation came home a week later after they made a mistake. but he is home, spent most of yesterday over there, and everyone else turned up as the eldest grandaughter came up from England. Got home to a letter from the hospital, good news, the HSG did not show up any problems, once I think I am down to the right weight I need to get the GP to check and then give the hospital a call to get the Clomid sorted which has cheered me up:)
  • Hi everyone

Just pondering how long should I wait until we start TTC again after a MMC? I know as was mentioned earlier, the usual wisdom is to wait for your next cycle but I haven't had a period since last November and haven't a flipping clue when my next one would be!

I had the ERPC on the 24th Feb, so what would you do?
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before
