Good luck for tomorrow Juju - those embabies sound very good indeed!

I've been to see my FS again, got to have laparoscopy again before any IUI or IVF to check for scar tissue around my ovaries & tubes. Got an 8-10 week wait for that now though :(

    Hi

Can I join please will give you a bit of a history

Me and hubby are 25 and have been ttc for 2.5 years. In December 2009 I was diagnosed with an Overactive thyroid. Have now had a year where I have only been on either a maintenance dose or nothing. Still not a sign of a BFP so just been to the doctors and have CD21 blood tests tomorrow and hubby has to give a sample on tuesday. Next appointment is 2nd March with smear and internal swabs and then I guess some information as to where we go next.

Feel like I've been through the emotional wringer over the last few years with so many babies around, unfortunately I sit next to a heavily pregnant woman who smokes and moans constantly about being pregnant. She has no idea where I am going to or the fact that I am counting down to her maternity leave......8 weeks left!

So hi to all, I'm always more of a lurker than a poster but will keep watching x

    Hello all,

Bad news from me. Started bleeding this morning, so I guess this is MC number five.

I'm feeling OK and fairly matter-of-fact about it though. I kind of expect it now. I've also been doing some research and have decided to go and have my Natural Killer cells tested. St Mary's put me off doing so back in 2009, as they don't believe in it, and neither does my consultant, but you know what? 41 years old, five miscarriages down and they haven't managed to help me, so maybe it's time I stopped listening to them and tried something else. Have read lots about Dr Shehata on Harley Street, I know he's controversial, but what have I got to lose? As I said to DH last night, I know it's more money, but what else should we spend our money on than trying to have this much-longed-for baby? Reading the case studies and looking at typical profiles of his patients I got quite excited as I really do fit into a typical high NKC profile. Has anyone else here got any experience of this?

To sum me up: I have two blood clotting disorders, Factor V Leiden and Prothrombin. I have one 7 year old child, born 3 months early due to severe pre-eclampsia (apparently the blood clotting disorders are implicated in this). Since then I've had five miscarriages despite taking Clexane and a double dose of baby aspirin. I have had every scan, procedure and blood test going at St Mary's. I have also lost four stone to get to a normal weight, have had nine months of alternative treatment at the Zhai clinic (chinese teas and acupuncture). Nothing has made any difference, and my lengths of time holding on to the babies is getting shorter - 12 weeks, nine weeks, eight weeks, six weeks, now five weeks. I conceive very easily, usually first or second month of trying (apparently this is also a feature of Factor V Leiden sufferers). According to some of the research I read, people with high NKCs often have a first child with no problems, but are subsequently unable to carry any other babies. Sounds very familiar.

Sigh. Am meant to be heading over to see a friend's new baby today.
  • JUJU - Good luck with the transfer. I have everything crossed for you are really do hope that you are back soon with some fab news!

Murray - Hope those 8 - 10 weeks fly by for you.

Tinksy - welcome to the board. I hope your stay here is short ;)

Sarah - Im so sorry to hear your news. Sending you HUGE (((HUGS))). ive no idea about killer cells but everything you said there makes sense, i hope it works out for you if its what you choose to follow.

im off for a hot bath, AF cramps today. Will take a few painkillers soon cos im off to a christening and im sure nobody wants to see my sulking face :( i do love seeing all the kids but it upsets me when i get all the "when r u next" questions. Feel like screaming at them  oh well deep breath and loads of vodka will sort it out :rotfl:

Hope everyone is keeping warm and safe xx

It's just a dildo with condom & lube. Make sure you relax.
Some like to wear skirts, as you don't have to strip down to nothing from waist down. I like wearing long socks, as it covers my not so nice legs:o

(((hugs))) sarah I think getting your NK cells tested is a good idea.

Welcome tinksy hope your stay is short :)

QQ I get the micronised 25mg 180 tablets from dhea.com (& take 3 per day)
They aren't cheap, but I do feel like I'm giving my egg quality a boost, as well as giving me more energy.

Welcome tinksy, let's hope your stay is short.

So sorry Sarah you must be so upset (again). I think it's a good idea to have your NKCells tested. I had mine done last year after 3 failed ICSI attempts, it was my acupuncturist that said she would be surprised if my test came back normal. I had it done at the Lister Hospital in London under my consultant in Dorset. It's just a simple blood test but costs £550 but well worth when I found my count was extremely high, 600 when it should be about 200. I am currently taking steroids to reduce my cells from killing my embies.

Had a transfer of 2 really good quality embies, graded 1-2, one had already gone to 8 cells and the other was 6-7. Now the worst 2 weeks of my life, I hate this part.
