Sorry you are stressed Lilo - I wish I could take you on holiday with me and smuggle you some drinks from the All Inclusive bar! Have a virtual sangria on me anyway! Hope hubby gets decent payout if redundancy is on the cards and can find something else soon.

Glad you are sanguine about things for time being - I figured you'd have decided to take a step back - like me, in New Year.

    Hi Runnerduck

I was exposed to chicken pox when I had just discovered I was pregnant last time, and hadn't had it previously so obviously panicked, but as a result have all the gen.

It is infectious from before the spots come out until the last one has crusted over. So if he still has spots but they are all dry, it isn't infectious. And the worst time is actually before the spots come out. But if you have had the blood test and have the antibodies then you are immune and cannot pass anything on to the baby. If you didn't have the antibodies then you can be given them by way of injection while pregnant and this will be fine. The worst time to get it is in the last trimester. There is a small risk of birth defects if exposed in first and second trimesters, but the consequences in third trimester are a lot more serious and as lilo says could include losing the baby.

I won, I won, I won! I've been Money Tipped!
thanks Nicki and lilo for the info
well, i rang the doctor this morning, and she said the risk is small but if it was her and she had the choice she would stay away, i think i am more worried as OH has a deaf and dumb uncle as a result of chicken pox in pregnancy. i have spoken to sil and she understands, so i will miss seeing them this week
  • Hugs to everyone that needs it. I was in the same situation this week Runnerduck, decided not to chance it even though I have had chickenpox before. Apparently, you can get it again (unusual but possible) and with us goin through this ivf cycle I stayed well away.

Just back from having 1st scan & blood test. I have 3 follicles on my left at 16mm, 13mm and 13mm. And a small one at 8mm on my right. They said I'm almost ready for egg collection so will likely be monday. Just got to carry on taking the injections over the weekend. I'm a bit gutted there's only 4 eggs and only 3 sound decent. Was hoping for more, and I know it only takes 1 but feel quite down about it tbh

Quality is more important than quantity. I had 19 eggs collected, 17 mature, 7 fertilised, 3 made it to 4-8 cell, all put back, none made it:o

I can understand you feel disappointed - but sometimes the least promising scenarios pan out perfectly. I had a friend who had IVF, got 1 egg out of it...and it worked!

I, on the other hand, had a 'perfect scenario' with the ovulation induction this month-but it's not looking good, BFN and a big spot on my chin - and chin spots usually only mean one thing!

    Good luck on Monday!
