just got back from the hospital, a bit disapointed as they cannot fit us in until december, so we have our ET booked in for the week beginning 5th december, which i have calculated test day to be christmas eve:eek: so all i can do now is try and lose a few pounds and i think this time i will try accupuncture, so i'm going to look for a local accupuncturist.

I hate it when they can't fit you in, hope the time flies by and you will have a bit of time to lose a few pounds. It could be a great Christma present!

  • I loved waking up and testing every morning and getting my fake BFP's. They lasted for 10 days. Sadly they are the only BFP's this cycle as the IUI didn't work. I can start another cycle in September if timings are OK.

My OH started askeing last night about the killer cells and how we find out if thats what is affecting us. Do they do these tests on the NHS or will we have to go private? Unfortunately I don't get another appointment with fertility doctor until after IUI #2.

    Hiya

Just been reading some of your threads and wish you all the best of luck on your journey to become pg.

My husband (45) and me (39) have been ttc for almost 4 years. We have a son who will be 5 in October and started ttc when he was about a year old. It took my 3 years of trying to fall pregnant with him so I realise for some people time is all that is needed. However, having just had a birthday and feeling I am approaching 40 and lil man is starting school, time feels like it is ticking and I am considering seeing my gp.

We have never had any medical attention before. The first time around, my gp explained how to take my temp and chart it on a graph to see if I was ovulating (I was) and this time, I have used those ovulation kits to check and found I am pretty good with my dates. My periods are regular although have got heavier as I have got older. Glad to say my period pain which used to be awful actually improved after having M. I must say that although we haven't been using contraception during this time, we haven't been thinking about our dates for all of it, rather just leaving it to nature as they say.

I went for a smear the other day and asked the nurse what I needed to do and she said make an appointment with my gp for some blood tests. Can anyone explain to me what happens if we start down this road? What are the blood tests for and assuming they are ok, what will happen next?

    Thanks :)

CCM, sorry about your IUI. hugs.

PurpleJay, I imagine they are talking about the day21 blood test, that's often where they start. It's another way to check if you have ovulated (it only checks if you have ovulated THAT month). Being as you're approaching 40 they may be inclined to nip straight on to any other tests, and they may check your hormone levels to check if there are any other likely problems, maybe with your egg reserve etc.
I would definitely get going on focusing on the timing and getting referred by the doctor if baby number 2 is what you're aiming for. Age is a big factor in fertility, so it's quite possibly time to consider jumping in with both feet. Sometimes we find nature needs a helping hand...

    Welcome PurpleJay.

So sorry CCM that it didn't work this time.

NK Cells test cannot be done on the NHS and mine cost me £570 at the Lister Hospital in London. It is still quite controversal here and research says it might not affect getting pregnant but it seems funny to me that people manage to fall pregnant when they are on the correct drugs to rectify this, however in the UK we are so far behind on all this. You could ask your GP for other blood tests that might be causing it like blood clotting/sticky blood.

Hi folks. Am now PUPO with 2, 3 day old embies. One was an 8 cell and one a 5. Here we go again!

Juju, thanks. I'm afriad I don't know the actual results of the test, that one got mislaid, I just know I am treated for it with prednisolone, 4 a day for 3 weeks and then it depends on the result of what we do then.
The last few treatments we have also had daily clexane injections to combat the MTHFR condition but this time we are not having them as the research has now suggested very little if any benefit of it, I am in daily aspirin though.

CCM I'm sorry this wasn't your time, get yourself geared up for round 2, this was just a practice!
Hi Runner. I agree having to wait when you are ready is soo annoying, however you have time to prepare, make arrangements to have xmas dinner cooked by someone ele so you can just relax and enjoy your BFP!

Welcome to the thread Purple Jay!

Soound good Lisa, now sit back and relax, fingers crossed.

Shame you haven't got your results I was hoping to compare. I don't know anyone else who has the same problem. At least you are having less drugs this time.
