Hi ladies, is it OK for me to join you in here? I’ve lurked for a bit but have just built myself up to posting.

I’m 26 and so is my husband. TTC nearly 3 years with not a glimmer of a BFP HSG was inconclusive (tubes appeared to be blocked/draining slowly but it was very painful) doctor sent me for lap and dye which showed no blockages in tubes but lots of cysts on ovaries. Hormone levels all normal in spite of cysts so they say cysts have no affect on my fertility. DH had 2 SAs, first showed low motility second showed very low motility and we were told chances of natural conception very low, not impossible but highly improbable. We were referred for ICSI.

We started the ICSI treatment at the end of October and it seemed to be going well but after getting 9 eggs at EC only 7 were suitable for ICSI, only 4 fertilised and of those only 1 got to 8 cell which was replaced. Possibly one of the worst moments of my life was waking up 4 days before my official testing date after dreaming of bleeding to find that my subconscious had picked up on what was actually happening. It was all over, I didn’t even make it to test day in fact I only made it to 7 days post transfer (as I was booked for a 11dpt blood test) which made me feel completely useless and hopeless.

We’re booked in for a follow up appointment to discuss our failed cycle in late January but at my test (which they still have to do bleeding or not) the doctor said he couldn’t see why it hadn’t worked as everything had been perfect, it was just bad luck and one of those things. At our follow up I’m going to try get official numbers for DH’s SA as I believe they said the issue was just motility and count and morphology were fine but I’m not 100% on that. I don’t really know what else to take from it though.

Our PCT only offer one fresh cycle and we didn’t have any frosties (frozen transfer is free) so we’re done and back to natural TTC. We’re going to take supplements and are thinking of getting a CBFM as my cycles can be erratic and also so we could abstain up to it being “peak” in the hope that gave DH’s swimmers a chance to build up. We are going to save for more tx I think but we’re not certain as it’s a lot of money for such a slim hope. I don’t know though.

Anyway sorry for babbling on for so long about me! I hope I can get to know you ladies a bit better and that we all get our BFPs.

I am sorry you were unsuccessful with your ICSI cycle, I know how you feel. However that you had 4 that fertilised is a good sign (I am only lucky with 1 each time). The trouble is none of us know why it doesn't work when it should its just hearbreaking. Welcome to the board and I hope you manage to conceive naturally or have another go at ICSI.

Hi Runnerduck - hopefully 2011 will bring you that luck you've been waiting for. Injections on New Year's Eve - what a way to celebrate! Glad you're still in it to win it so to speak, I did wonder!

    ++++++++++

I'm on CD23, testing in 5 days. I'm optimistic, stupidly - I really should know better by now..!

Murray - near-c-buddy - when are you testing?

lambanana - sorry to hear your treatment didn't work this time. I just had the first IVF and waiting for the outcome. Not holding much hope myself, but you never know.

So, it is Tuesday, day 3 post ET. Somehow I am not bothered that I am in 2ww. The embryo would be 5 days today, that is when it would probably go to blastocyst. I was having some pains today, but then again - I always have pains! And it doesn't have anything to do with embryo - it is way too small to cause any pain!

I have things to keep my mind occupied - extremely low work load in the office (don't worry, it will pick up - I am expected to start and finish one project by the end of next week, and I only have 7 working days left this year). I still have my friendly plumber working on the house and hopefully we are getting new doors by the end of the week as well. I want to try and get at least one coat of paint on the walls before the weekend too. Oh, and as we are having friends visiting this weekend, I need to clean the house as that is a mess at the moment and all covered in dust due to boiler work! Oh, and OH is away, so it is all for me to do.

    Welcome lambanana:wave:

We are planning on letting DH's swimmers to build up for at least 5 days this cycle (using CBFM):) DH has low motility (3% fast 19% slow) and 1% morphology (had 2SAs). We've always tried after 2 days or less while TTC and it hasn't worked yet:o

Take it easy, your friends won't mind your house in a mess, their house is probably the same too:o

Putting feet up won't work. I can't stand messy house, and my friends houses are always spotless when we visit. There is so much dust and dirt everywhere from all the work, I have to do something. Putting a coat on the wall will stop me sanding and filling the walls more, and it will make me feel better that I can see some progress!

Tell my OH about putting the feet up. He doesn't understand that concept.

He he, you are so different from me:p
    Good luck:j
  • good luck ginvzt the 2ww is horrible (though mine didn't even last 2 weeks!) I hope this works for you

Qquaver we've not got a CBFM yet but are going to get one in the new year. I don't know the exact numbers of my husband's motility just that it was very low, I'll ask when we go for our IVF/ICSI follow up appointment. I do think our best bet might be trying to build them up, I hope it works for you too!
