    No surprises BFN.

    Finally dragged myself out of bed and going out for lunch now anything to take my mind off it. I will still go for my blood test on Friday but I think there is no hope really.

    Ah cr*p. I do hope you're wrong, and it's just too early but I'm sorry today was a BFN, how gutting.

  • A little update from me. I have been lurking quietly honestly !
    We had our first appointment with the fertility clinic yesterday.
    They have started tests on DH to find out why there was no sperm showing in his analysis.
    Apparently it can be a number of reasons. Chromosones (sp?), hormones, signals from his brain, blockages or sperm diverting somewhere they shouldnt.
    They are also going to start tests on me now. The reason for doing this now is that I am 40 in under 5 months and funding will stop when I reach 40.
    They want to find out now if there are any problems on my side as by the time DH is sorted it could be too late for me.
    I dont know if this is a local NHS rule or if its the same everywhere but please bear it in mind any of you who are getting close to 40 and havent yet gone to see your doctor.

    Hi Tabatha -Hello! I hope they find some little swimmers, and that you have some options. Would you go for ICSI if it was an option?

    Age-wise, I'm not surprised at the 40 cut-off. I was told the cut-off for IVF in my PCT was 35 (when I was 34)! I'm now 37, and sort of pinning all my hopes on Clomid (when I know the odds of it helping are single figures at best, as the fertility consultant told me.) I have 6 months worth of Clomid sat gathering dust in the medicine cabinet, waiting for after I have done the CD1 FSH test, which I should be able to do in c. 10-12 days time.

    +++++++++

    I'm pretending to be patient, but man the 2ww is tough going. I have no hopes in particular this month - there's always a faint chance, but no reason to believe this month will be any different from the preceding 14..

    Still, I can console myself with the thought there is NO WAY we've missed the fertile window!! If it doesn't happen, that won't be why. We're going to keep at it as well every other day until AF, just on the off-chance there's some sort of a freaky OV phenomenon at work.

    But not, merciful god, tonight. Tonight it's just me, a hot water bottle and a nice cup of tea - I know how to have a good time in bed, oh yes!
