Im more of a lurker than a poster but Ive been hovering around on the TTC thread for a while now. I think I might be better off over here.
We have started the ball rolling going to our doctors, firstly blood tests which were fine for us both, then my DH went for a SA. We got the results last night. They cant find any.
Can anyone offer me any hope ?
Hi, welcome to the club. Sorry to hear about your OH, it must be very hard for him. Has he been referred to the specialist to see if there is something they can do? (I heard of removing sperm surgically, as there still might be some even if the sample contains none)
I know it is not a preferred option, but there is possibility of donor sperm, if really nothing can be done. It is a very individual and very personal. It would not be something I would like to do, but as my OH always says - the father/mother to the child is the one that takes care, loves and provides for child's needs...
Our situation is different (well, OH's tests were fine 20 months ago, we will get new results on Monday and will be told if we can go forward with IVF), so I can't speak from my experience. We have discussed this many times, that if our IVF doesn't work, we will be going through adoption, as there are so many children that need love and home.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Have they found the reason for it?
Are there going to be further investigations?
PS. If you read my previous post, sorry about that, I thought you meant 'they can't find any problem with it'.0 -

Welcome to the board, are they doping any other investigations?, they might do a sperm aspiration and get sperm that way, thats what my OH has for our ICSI treatment but thats because they can't get the sperm the normal way. Hope there is a solution.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM0 -

Gin, just out of interest and hope you don't mind me asking but how many attempts of IVF will try before going for adoption.
I'm not sure sure how many attempts we are going to try before we consider adoption but I am thinking about 4, but fingers crossed it will work this time.
Tip - anybody doing injections I am finding if I rub my stomach hard and fast first before sticking the needle in its seems to be much better.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM0 -

I don't know. We were told we will be given 2 free goes on IVF (that is if they won't cancel funding as couple of PCTs around me have just done that). I don't know how will I react to the emotional side of it all.
Our friend's sister had 5 IVF cycles with no luck (in Italy, where they have to put all your embryos back as freezing is not allowed), took a break from it all and fell pregnant - the baby girl is due end of December. She is 40, as well.
I do not know if I will be able to do 5 cycles. At the moment I am thinking that 2 might be enough, maybe 3. But once I tried it all for myself, I will be better 'informed' of how I react it to all this and it also has to be our joint decision, not just mine...
How is your treatment going? I hope for a miracle that we will be told we can start this cycle (AF started on Monday, so it sill be CD8 when we see consultant), but I guess we will have to wait until my next cycle. That is assuming that all the tests are fine...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

sorry to hear about your OH, my OH has very low count and poor motility, he was first tested last autumn and had a very poor result, and our consultant said that there are a few viruses that can cause a very low count occasionally so he insisted on testing again after six months we held our breath that would be the cause, it was the same after 6 months for us, but he did say that when some men are tested again the count has improved, also i have seen a programme on tv where the sperm was surgically removed and used for IVF so that may be an option, good luck0 -

They are cutting NHS cycles in my area too, from Dec they are only offering one free cycle, I just made it in time to get my second time for free.
You often hear about people who try for ages or have treatment but then fall pregnant naturally, then you think why can't that happen to me!!! even though you are pleased for them.
My treatment is fine at the moment been down reging for 7 days now and no symptons apart from I am feeling tired and sore nipples - but that could be me :rotfl:
Hope you can start treatment when you see the Drs but I bet they will say next month - they always do that to us but trotters crossed.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM0 -
INOSITOL, PCOS AND FERTILITY
An inexpensive B vitamin can help a woman get pregnant...
this may sound daft, but I do remember reading somewhere that ttc you needed your B vitamins, so knowing that the content of red bull contained more than just caffeine, I started quaffing that or Monster Low Carb on an almost daily basis. The shops own brand stuff is just as good though.
Along with a vague attempt at dieting (just upped the greens & pulses really, tried so hard to eat less chocolate & donughts, etc.& a bit of exercise (a few widths of the local pool, or 5 mile walk to the park, round it once & back), and the odd multi-vitamin..
Best wishes to all ttc. If I can do it.. after about 4 years of trying, it took a few months of motivating myself to 'diet' and honestly a little bit of exercise!0 -
Well, I am going to Liverpool, and they were 'kind' enough to tell during PIE that if you are from Wales, both partners need to by BMI 29 or less... That would be the end to it for us, as OH is quite a bit over BMI=29...
Good luck!OMG.. I hope that is not nationwide!!! Although I am around BMI30 at the moment I hopefully wouldn't have much of a problem losing a few pounds but DH will never be that size. He's a farmer's boy, they're not skinny (ok and he may have had a few too many bears).
I totally echo that, goodness my OH would never get down to that, bless him. I want to go on one of those giant weighing machines in town later this morning, to see what we both presently weigh0 -
Well, less than 48 hours till our appointment. The weight is not at BMI 29 level, I am on AHA diet again (I have to say, it doesn't feel like a diet at all). I have been to the gym yesterday and did 5km walking/running, and the same again today. Will try and keep up and do it tomorrow as well, and possibly Monday morning.
I don't think I have any chances of getting to BMI 29, but I am happy with my progress, my weight is down, I slimmed down considerably, my fitness improved. Will see how much weight I can shift by Monday morning, but I guess that is not going to be 2 kg I need!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
