Jiblets going private does not affect your Nhs go's in my PCT but I know that it does in some. I had asked consultant about it this week. But i am fortunate as looks like only a 6 month wait in my area at moment for Nhs go. From referal first appt seems to be about 3 months away and then treatment few months later. So I am not going to go private as waiting for a laporoscopy and want weight down as well. We are also fortunate as we only need Bmi below 35. I am below this at moment but want bmi to be under 30 before treatment.

Hi guys, read something interesting today - but cant remember where so will have to keep searching. The jist of it was that an alkaline diet can help you conceive. So I have been googling alkaline foods. Now, I dont know a thing about anything really, but the diet would mean one similar to one I tried about 2 years ago - it was quite hardcore, but was designed for maintaining blood sugar levels and losing weight for pcos. Anyway - that was the last time I got pregnant. So, my little mind is doing overtime and thinking that maybe there is something in it and I may try it again. I know that sperm live longer in an alkaline environment so maybe that is why? If I can find the article I will post a link.

Whilst looking for it, I found this article in the times, and though I would post it as it explains why different recommendations are important.

Lilo, thanks for this. I have just read the article and it is based on 'Getting pregnant faster' book. So, I have just reserved the book in my library (being MSE here and not buying it!). If we don't get pregnatn in the next two months, it will be waiting for IVF which will probably take a while, so give a try to anything that might help...

Hi, the thing which I first read, which started me off on this train of thought is in Sainsbugs monthly mag - I havent got a link, but this is what is says -

    BONE UP ON ALKALINE FOODS
Every food you eat creates an acid or alkaline reaction in your body, but increasingly experts say we need to tip the balance towards eating more alkaline foods. Excess acidity has been linked to poor bone health and lower muscle mass - in fact, fertility expert Zita West says most of the issues she sees in her clinic are linked to overly acidic bodies. To increase the alkaline in your diet, choose the majority of foods from the alkaline selection, below - acidic foods should make up only 20% of your diet.
    ALKALINE FOODS
    - All fruit, in particular, melon, mango and grapes
    - All vegetables, especially carrots, celery, peas, spinach, and courgettes
    - Wholegrains such as quinoa and millet
    - Goats milk and tofu
    ACIDIC FOODS
    - Red meat and poultry
    - White pasta
    - Fish and Shellfish
    - Rice and oats

Hope this helps someone - I think I will try it

    Hi there.

After taking Chlomid on my most recent cycle I had a blood progestrone test on day 20.

I've also been using my at home (cheap) ovulation test sticks. During day they didn't show up anything, but they did last week, particularly day Saturday, which was my day 28.

I spoke to the clinic today about my results and they showed that I was ovulating and the nurse recommend that if I've not fallen pregnant this cycle, next cycle to take the chlomid again and make sure that we try during day 11-14.

Do I take it that my home ovulation tests are rubbish?

I don't know, but after using IC OV sticks for months, then CBFM and all saying I ovulated - I did 3 months of day 17-21 blood tests (at the same time as CBFM) which apparently say I only OV 1 month in 3. I'm confused too ..... even more so as my gynae consult said my progesterone was ok in the tests but the fertility consult says the opposite ........

  • Hi ladies, some of you may remember me popping on here quite a bit last year, whilst I was going through IVF. Unfortunately it didn't work, but I got 5 frosties (frozen embryos)

I took 6 months out of TTC, and I had 2 transfered back to me 2 weeks ago, but I made up my mind it hadn't worked, so just relaxed and tried to forget about it and after 5 years TTC, and being prodded poked, tested, taking clomid/IVF/FET, with a complete loss of any kind of pretension to dignity etc etc etc I've only gone and got my BFP this morning!!!

I just want to say there is hope!
