    Just a quick update:

went for my appointment and due to it being at 4pm. which ended up being 5pm my weight was 4lb higher than the morning. so my BMI was 30. He is sending the request through to the pct although they may reject as the rules sale below 30. so i wont know till i hear from them. Apparently there is no waiting list so as soon as its agreed i am in. He did recommend ICSI but said the IVF clinic would go into further detail.
So worst case pct rejects on my bmi. i will just reapply with a bmi of 29.

Lilo, it was really interesting. Interviewed a lot of leading researchers on pre-eclampsia and talked a lot about the theory I had already heard quite a bit about, that the mother and baby are 'fighting' each other, and the baby's demands are what leads to the pe starting. They also mentioned, which made my ears !!!!! up, that some scientists in the US are 'very close' to a treatment for Pre-eclampsia. Which would be world news if true - it's the biggest killer of third world mums.

The program's on iplayer, here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00fvh1j/Growing_Babies_War_in_the_Womb/

I forgot, anyone interested should watch -it;s not just about pre-eclampsia. It's about conception, how things implant, and why things go wrong. Some amazing video.

  • Hello

Firstly, I probably should remind you of my situ. Been of the pilll and trying for about 3 years. Various progestrone tests have shown I'm not ovulating. Been prescribed chlomid. Today is day 28 of my first chlomid cyle and I did an at home ovulation test and it has shown that I'm ovulating today apparantly. I had a blood/progrestrone test done last week (day 20) but it didn't show tha I was ovulating.

I am of course super pleased. How long could this mean I'm ovulating for?

Without wishing to sound too clinical, husband is out for most of today, but I don't want us to miss our chance....do we have a couple of days to try or is it just today?

hi skintmonkey, I'm trying to remember (as I dont' track my ovulation so closely for stress reasons), I think your BDing is well timed for a few days before (they'll be there waiting) and tonight. I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon.

The Queen of Broken Hearts (as one of my tweeps calls AF) has arrived today, making today CD1 instead of CD 55. I've been proper grumpy this morning. Several tears have fallen and I decided (with my new no-harm-in-being-public policy) to not only grumble anonymously, but also with my actual name on fb.

I have been really touched by 'normal' people that are being really sensitive (so far) about talking to me. And they aren't all just ignoring it because they don't know what to say. I've even had contact from a girl I haven't seen since 6th form, letting me know her story of how she concieved her 20month year old. She's even sent me her number so that I can ring her if I feel the need.

Also, I'm considering how gutted I am that I can't see me getting two icsi/ivf cycles in this year. If I decide to go for a private cycle, does that affect my NHS waiting list position? I'm considering speeding things up, but if it were to remove me from my 2 free NHS cycles then it'd be too big a trade off...

As far as i am aware you still get your free nhs go after a private go but obviously only if you dont get pregnant on the private go. moment you have children nhs dump you hth :)

I am currently waiting for my pct letter to let me know if we have been approved for our first and only nhs go.

Is this the hardest part so far? So close, yet still further away than I thought my entire journey would be...:(

its so hard. my bmi is 30 and the rules state above 19 below 30 so might just get refused on weight. if so i guess i have to reapply. so hard though i only stuck on bmi 30 as my appointment was at 4pm. i have been bmi29 at home for a week. :(
