    Hello everyone!

Thanks for all the best wishes, I really appreciate it. It went ok - I suppose I should be glad that my tubes are clear and the small cyst was drained. I had to arrive at hospital at 1pm, but didn't get to the theatre till about 6 pm, so we just sat in my room with OH waiting. By the time I got back to the room it was sometime after 7pm, and I was sick a few times, so I stayed the night. Also, buy that time I had to food for a bout 24 hours and to drink for about 20 hours, so was feeling rather weak. Maybe if I insisted I could have gone home, but I haven't been for a wee and could barely swallow anything at 10 pm, so I thought I'd better stay. Didn't slep well through the night, and I was waking up every hour or so. Didn't have much pain around belly or shoulders/ribs, just a horrible headache! So, got some paracetamol in the morning and went home just after 9 am when OH arrived.

I got a sick note for 2 weeks off (yes!), so I can take my time to get better. I have trouble to sit down/stand up as that is when my belly really hurts. I am afraid to cough or sneeze, as it causes pain. I know I got two cuts, and possibly a third one, but I can't make myself to look at the wounds, so when the nurse was changing dressings, I was looking the other way. I know I got stitches in one of them, but these are dissolvable, so I don't need to get them removed. Today I got some pain in the rib area (the sort you get after an exercise, like a stitch), but not too bad. So, apart from not really being able to stand upright without pain or sit down/stand up, I am feeling quite well!

Anyway, I will have an appointment with my consultant in 4 weeks, will see what he says then. From what I heard (didn't really follow much after the GA, so had my OH to listen and take care of everything), we will be talking about 'treatment'. Just hope it is not going to clash with my trip back home!

Oh, about mooncup - I read about them a while ago and thought I would give it a try, but I found it so uncomfortable, that I had to put it back in the box and hide in my drawer... I hope you will get on better with it.

Has anyone TTC using Evening Primrose Oil & Agnus Castis?

I have googled them but can't find out much information.
  • Hi there and thanks for the advice Lilo! I went shopping yesterday but couldn't find any of the remedies/herbs you (and a friend of mine) recommended. I was in a good chemists/herbalist shop and he recommended a homeopathic one called pulsatilla pratenis, so I'll see how that goes.

Actually feeling very much better though as yesterday AF started good and proper. I must be the only one here who's glad that they're having a nice heavy period! Well, I guess in my case it's making me feel that maybe my system is getting back to normal... let's hope the next one comes a bit sooner (than 60-odd days)....or maybe doesn't come for other reasons...!

Shelly - I used to use a mooncup and can confirm that it's pretty easy to use, you don't feel it it all, just takes a bit of getting used to putting it in and taking it out. I don't use it now; my periods are probably a bit lighter than yours (only 1.5/2 days heavy-ish bleeding) and I was previously using tampons, which began to irritate. I found that in the end the mooncup irritated even more - it's bigger than a tampon and pushes against the inside walls as you put it in. But maybe this problem is peculiar to me - I read that a lot of women really liked it (also on the link above I think??)
Anyway, I was quite disappointed as I was looking forward not to buying any sanitary products again!

Lilo - the specialist we saw said that there was no physical reason but that it would help me to lose weight - although my hormone profiles came back normal and I am ovulating it's very unlikely I'll get pregnant with such a high BMI. They won't consider any hormone treatment until my BMI is under 35 so I have to keep trying with the weight loss.

I stick to a PCOS diet as much as I can already - I only eat small amounts of wholewheat pasta, bread and bulgar wheat, I mostly eat salmon, tuna or chicken, veg soup, veg, fruit, fat free yoghurts and seeds. Am going to add evening primrose oil to my supplements (B vitamins, folic acid and calcium) to see if that helps. Need to get a fertility monitor too - any recommendations from anyone?

Skint_chick I'm in the same situation with the BMI... need to get mine down from the 44 it's at at the moment (I believe - need to get the WiiFit out and check). My eating slipped badly recently - it does when I'm working a lot and depressed, but I'm trying to get it back on track and doing a lot of swimming - doesn't help when the only adult swimming sessions are at the same time as the mum and baby ones in the other pool.

Still taking the news about my cousin getting pregnant to be able to stay on benefits very badly. Trying to work out a way of avoiding seeing her and "it" at Xmas because she'll have dropped by then - which basically involves avoiding the whole Xmas at my family's house - but if I don't go it's "their" year, and next year no doubt we'll be at oh's so my mother is liable to go ballistic over not seeing us for that many years for Xmas day (I hate the whole season anyway).

My cycle seems to have gone haywire - I was 31 days regular as clockwork (even down to the time of day) for about 6 months, then went to 29 days... and all of a sudden AF arrives on day 24 - but was only a day and a bit. I've got no idea what on earth is going on or where I'm at now - and I can't understand why I've suddenly become so irregular.

Lilo - Have you got any information about the PCOS diet? Because I am really interested in the aspect of stabilising my blood sugar

  • Evening all,

I hope your all well and doing lots of baby making!! LOL

I'm currently waiting for my period to start (due on wednesday) and I know its coming!!

Had a lovely morning today, went to a car boot. Got to spoil DS with lots of cheap bob builder toys. Good job I did, cos he was brilliant this afternoon ate the majority of his dinner, carrots and cabbage so very proud of him.

On the slightly negative side, the only real 'mummy' friend I had still hasn;t been in touch. She went away just after DS is birthday so used that as a reason for not coming to his party and then hasn't been in touch since.

She knows I'm TTC and having problems, so my guess is that she's pregnant but doesn't want to tell me!! I'd be really happy for her, I might come home and have a little cry but I'd still be happy for her.

So the plan for next week is to go to all the toddler groups I can think of to try and meet new people!! I just have to find the groups go and smile, plus hope that some one thinks I look nice enough to talk to!!

Any way onwards on and upwards

    Lilo

I got some wind yesterday and the constipation as well - expected that, so stocked up on dried prunes beforehand and started munching through them yesterday. Have to say - much better today! Still didn't have a great night's sleep, as I can't sleep on my side due to the pain in my belly button area, but never mind - I am going to be snoozing on the sofa for the rest of day with the cat on my lap (he is already going circles around me crying to come downstairs - cheeky one)

Oh, and had another call to Bupa, as on coming home from hospital I had a letter from another hospital waiting about unpaid account. It was for 5 blood tests and Bupa paid for just one. After another 10 min on the phone they admitted their error and going to pay it out, but I didn't really need to have to sort out this mess as well. Just what is waiting for me with the hospital fees, as I had to stay overnight...

Well, as usual nothing to report here.

Though I have decided to buy a mooncup and see how I get on with it. I don't know about you Lilo but since my surgery my AF is alot heavier than it used to be, but maybe that's coincidence and it would have got heavier anyway? Who knows? ........

I thought I'd try the mooncup as ladies rave about it on this site and whilst I don't really mind using pads/tampons I do feel very 'icky' down there as the flow is so heavy :o

Well for having nothing to report I said quite alot :rotfl:

Have been using mooncup for two years now. I find it OK and I suffer from less period pain than when I used tampons, but on my 1st and 2nd day, I do find I have to visit the loo every couple of hours (even at night) and I use a panty liner as a backup.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

    Hi there

It has just taken me about 3 months to read all of the previous thread and when I thought I was getting to the end I realised there was a new one with more still to read lol.

Feel like I know you all really well now and have both cried and smiled at some of your stories and would like to join in and offer my support and perhaps access some of your knowledge.

My story: I'm 35 and DH is 38. Like Lilo and Shelley I had cervical cancer and had my cervix (and tumour) removed in Feb 05. I still regularly go for check-ups and but so far everything has been successful.

At the time I wasn't with DH but had already been TTC with my previous hubby with no success. I met DH in Dec 05 and we started TTC the following Dec (06) on a 'let's see what happens' basis. We got referred to our local fertility clinic (Southampton) last year and currently doing all the normal tests.

First of all DH was told he had sperm antibodies and we would need to go down the ICSI route but then on a 2nd test was told he was all ok.

All bloods etc have been ok for me so the next route is to check my tubes.

They tried to do hycosy test but couldn't get the tube in because the stitch that was put in in place of my cervix has left too small a gap. They suggested lap and dye but on advice from previous surgeon there could be too much scar tissue and do further damage in that area. I'm now waiting to be referred to our local oncology department to see if they can loosen the stitch. This in itself brings on it's own complications as it would be permanent and when I do finally get pg if the stitch is too loose it could mean total bed rest for 9 months.

Providing all ok with my tubes our consultant can't see any reason for it not to happen naturally so we are still bd'ing every other day from about day 10 to day 25 (34 day cycle) but I am resisting temping or using OPKs again as I did this to begin with and it put quite a lot of pressure on us.

I go through ups and downs of reading everything and being really intense about it all to not being bothered. DH also finds it a lot of pressure to 'BD on demand' which also frustrates me.

To top it all we have just found out my grandad has cancer and probably only got 6 months left with us and I've always thought I would be able to introduce him to my children (we are very close).

Sorry this is quite a long post so if your still reading - thank you.

    Nadine
