Hi all,
Wanting to introduce myself and express my worries if thats ok.
Been TTC for 3 years, last year docs finally did tests to find DH has a very low sperm count ie. 3mil. I have done blood tests, ultrasounds and everything appears ok with me. I have to go back in feb to see if i have lost enough weight to go on the IVF waiting list.
Now my worry... i just need to talk about it. The likelyhood of a couple only needing one ivf cycle are low so i have heard. If this fails i am in so much debt i could not afford to pay private. I am so worried i will have to give up my dream of a family. So upset i am in debt.
Anyways thanks for listening.
Hi alamaya,
we only get 1 free cycle of IVF at the moment but we were advised in April there is a chance it could be increased to 2 cycles it all depends on which area you fall into and the funding. Do you know it's only one cycle at the moment?
and thank you lilo will try think positive
I am starting the special k thing tomorrow my husband maybe taking me to London if we can get a room on the hoxton deal and I cannot fit into any of my nice clothes. Has anyone done this?0 -
Is IVF your only option?
I have read that men aswell as women can take clomid to up the volume of swimmers. Has your OH tried any methods to help himself boost his count? My hubby says cucumber is good to eat.
Have you looked at your cycle in depth to see when you are ovulating and making sure you BD every other day during that week?
A count of 3 mil is low as normal count is in excess of 20 million but it only takes one swimmer to make it.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Hi thanks for the replies.
To answer some questions:
i work for the nhs and enquired with the local ptct policy and yep its one cycle only.
I ovulate on cd20-21 every month without fail. Used ovulation tests, fertility monitors and they all agree.
I was informed by the consultant at the hospital that ivf was the way we were going. Was not offered anything else.

Fingers crossed that you wont need a 2nd cycle but if you do that they increase it to 2 cycles. Is the mobility ok is it just the count thats low as if they are still swimming ok and your OV every month it only takes 10 -
think they said motility was 65% which was fine. It was a little lower on the second test but no major change.

I need to lose a little post-christmas/post-op belly myself, and I was thinking about this, as it would be quite convenient to have cereal in school, then a meal at home. Then I decided (without checking out the science of it all) that I shouldn't deprive my body of anything nutrient-wise whilst ttc. What do you reckon - am I being overcautious?Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -

The dietician at my GP surgery was very helpful last time I spoke to her. Does your GP surgery have one you could chat to? (ours does telephone appts so I didn't even have to leave the house)
Or failing that go on a multi-vit tablet just while you are doing the cereal diet.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Did you watch the channel 4 series 'MY BIG FAT DIET'. You can stick to 1200 calories a day and still not be deprived. On the website it even breaks down a meal plan for you and shows you treats you can have.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

I would still have a healthy evening meal and snack on fruit during the day so I don't think I would loose out on too many vitamins, I did think about this but i dont think I am going to get PG any time soon0
