tealover. What determines if you're suitable for egg sharing? It's something I think about a lot as our only financial option for when the 2 cycles fail (not that I'm one bit a pessimist or anything like that)...

Is that in the Hewitt? Mine wasn't that long- I think they factor in you staying at the end to ask questions and any starting delays.

The link support group in the Hewitt and the counselling service are both excellent. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Whattodonow, enjoy your patient eve! It sounds obvious and you've probably already thought but it's a good idea to take a notepad and pen. Lots of people had at ours but we didn't think (in a rush as always) and came out a bit overwhelmed and couldn't remember half of what had been said. They did give us some info to take away but not half of the interesting stuff that they had talked about during the session.

We are waiting for our next appointment at the mo' so that we can actually start doing something. Hate all the waiting, once you've decided to go for it really just want to get on but I suppose everyone feels like that.

Have a huge project coming up at work which is bad timing as will last until April next year and so although my boss has said can take time off for apps etc when I am there might actually be expected to do stuff and not just day dream about IVF

Does anyone here have experience of a 'natural' IVF cycle or one where they don't give you quite as many drugs?

Thinking of everyone that has embryos on board and watching for your updates. Will go back to lurking again now.

I think these open evenings about IVF are a bit weird. I never had anything like that - it was very much just me, the OH and the consultant. I wouldn't like sitting in a room with a load of other couples knowing that we all struggle to have a baby. I'd feel far too exposed.

Yes it's Hewitt TCD. Thanks WW - I didn't think to take a notebook actually! I'm going straight from work so ill take something with me! I'll take a look at the support TCD. I'm dreading that side of things tbh so glad to know its there.

I'm hoping it will be OK. We will all be in the same boat so doesn't really bother me. Also I'm hoping it makes us feel not so alone in it all if you know what I mean!

I guess there's so much they need to tell u it makes sense they do a group all at the same time.

I think (like funding!) it depends on the clinic and the area. The only thing we've been told so far is that you need to be under 35 (which I am until Jan). I would imagine the other criteria used for IVF such as non-smoker and a healthy BMI might also be used.

I don't know whether you need to have already done one cycle as they said it was good that I responded well egg-wise last time. Maybe they look for that?

The main thing worrying me is that there's a serious genetic illness in my family. I don't have it, and it's in a form where you can't be a carrier - you either have it or not, if you don't you can't pass it on. However, my mum, sister and maternal grandfather do all have it (my mum pretty badly) so I don't know what impact that will have.

The appt is next Tuesday so I'll let you know!
