My fs appointment was surprisingly calm, I cried at the end because they were positive for me! HSG and scan in next few weeks and back with fs in 6-8 weeks. Seems real again now.

Ha - I know that feeling! I was strong and calm recently at the clinic until the doctor said 'I know it's hard, but how are you feeling about all this now? What do you think we should be doing? Don't worry - there are always options and we will get there'. He nearly broke me! It can be quite disarming when people are genuinely nice and hopeful for you.

Christ, I've sobbed like a loon at virtually every appointment I've ever had at the fertility clinic. I used to come out looking like Simon Weston with Donald Trump's hair.

I've perfected my 'stoic appointment face'. Which is great, but only lasts as far as the car park so I look a right state on the drive back to work.

Hey, none of us do/don't do everything we should. I'm sitting here with a coffee... was really good about caffeine for ages but it's definitely crept back up lately.

You know it's not ideal, no point beating yourself up.

I gave up smoking 6 years ago (tomorrow!) and found forums a really great help. No surprise, I clearly love a forum :) There's loads of great advice, and people who know what a craving feels like to support you when you need a whinge.

Or of course you could just post here when you feel willpower slipping and we'll distract you with a fascinating conversationg about CM or something lol.

Yay for stopping smoking for so long, I stopped for 3 years but slipped back into it:mad: I find theres so much pressure to be 'perfect' when ttc esp when you need help. I feel so guility if I have a cig and feel lost without them, stupid I know. Were off to a party tommorow and dreading it, everyone will be smoking and drinking lots, I hadn't smoked in 5 days and all it takes is a bad day for me to slip back it a cig.

hi everyone, wow there has been lots happening over the past two days!

PM - sometimes I wonder if any of the changes I've made to my diet/not drinking alcohol make any difference at all. If you are having the odd cig then don't beat yourself up, but if its becoming a habit then maybe you should seek help to help you give it up once and for all. Do your clinic know you smoke? As of July 2013 here in Scotland, people must be non-smokers to get IVF on the NHS and that's both partners. Its tough though, esp if it helps when you get stressed, and this is a stressful time! Keep at it with the drugs, keeping fingers crossed for you x

Tea - what is embroyscope? I'm always on the look out for new techniques that might improve the odds!

MrsHappy - good luck for ET tomorrow, will be sending good vibes your way.

Hi to Vesper, hope your appointment goes well when it comes around.

AFM - feeling better today, have been so busy at work I've not had time to wallow. Luckily I love my job (I work for a charity) so that helps big time. Although there is a pregnant lady in the office, who was moaning about how scared she was of giving birth. I was insanely jealous, I'd love to have the chance to have a baby! (I'm sure I would be terrified though to if by some miracle it actually happened!)

TBH, it's probably not making a huge difference (if any) to your fertility. The main thing is to give up when you find yourself pregnant. No one's perfect. Don't beat yourself up.
