TBH, it's probably not making a huge difference (if any) to your fertility. The main thing is to give up when you find yourself pregnant. No one's perfect. Don't beat yourself up.

Rightly or wrongly I beat myself up all the time time. If I do fall pg I Woukd give up straight away I don't ov at all so that's the main factor. Got to go for the next jab :(

Big hugs part mouse I think tears are a natural part of the process, because it means so much and because it is all about hormones!
You haven't done anything, someone just obviously think we are strong enough to manage this challenge!

    Has anyone used embryoscope?

Tealover, we used embryoscope for this cycle (our third)

It was worth every penny for us. Even though I have very low AMH (2.3) so only ever get 4/5 eggs.

This time we had 3/5 fertilise (initially) and they said that with the embryoscope, they could see that one was trying so they left it to see what happened. Normally it would have been destroyed if not fertilised at that point.

That little late developer did fertilise (so 4/5) and ended up being the best quality out of my 4 embryo's and one of the 2 that were put back. I'm now 6w3d pregnant.

It's a great piece of kit as it shows up any abnormalities. One of ours divided into 8 cells but then went back to 6 cells. Very unusual and abnormal but they wouldn't have seen that without the embryoscope and that one would have gone back as it was more cells.

I'm rambling now, but for us,it was the best £500 we've spent. Feel free to ask more, i'll rave all day about it happily.

Im prob going to be flamed for this but it anyone struggling with smoking? I keep stopping and starting with the stress of it all.I know I shouldn't smoke but feel under so much pressure :(

I smoked throughout all my treatments until this last one.

The reality of our situation really hit me and I just felt that after 4 years, I had to give it everything I had.

For us though, we had so much going against us. MF(very poor) on his side and low AMH and high FSH on my side. We had very little chance so I just thought "so what difference is a few fags going to make"?

Don't beat yourself up about it. I'll admit I even had 2 cigarettes after I got my BFP last time. When I MC, I drove myself insane thinking that was the reason. It wasn't.

I DO believe that my giving up this time round contributed to better egg quality, which in turn has kept me pregnant for longer, but then it could also be hubby's varicocele op, or the embryoscope we used or the short protocol that was different this time.

You'll give up when you're ready. Feeling bad about it is the first step, trust me!

p.s - I gave up with the E cig. Was only on the nicotine cartridge for a week before I moved onto the non nicotine. It's been nearly 5 months since I've had a cig.

Thanks so much for your post.so much of it makes sense, we've been trying for a good few years and I know I don't ov on my own so keep thinking what does a few cigs matter but I don't want my egg quality to be affected.

I might give the e cig another go, bit out of the loop which ones are good though?

Kick myself for starting again after 3 years.
  • Partmouse, hope you're okay. I only stopped smoking 13 months ago, before we went for ICSI, but well in to our TTC journey. For me it was the financial aspect which gave me the final push to do it-fags or ICSI. I have an app on my phone which keeps track of how much I've not smoked and how much money I haven't spent. I used the lozenges and they did the trick for me. OH stopped about 6 months ago using the e-cig. If we can do it anyone can-I was a 20 a day and he was 30 a day. Good luck x

We had transfer this morning, so I have a 10 cell and an 8 cell doing their stuff in there. Another 8 cell should make it to blasto and frozen and they are keeping an eye on a 6 cell, with the hope it gets to blasto to freeze as well. Am feeling a bit overwhelmed and weepy this afternoon, but I know that will pass. Time to take it easy and think positive thoughts :)
