    Seventh Anniversary Combo Breaker
Hi everyone, I've been away for a while, enjoying a relaxing holiday and trying my very best not to think about the IVF not working.

Tea & MrsDavo, I totally agree, everything about this is totally unfair. My period came yesterday, an although I knew it would, it was still crushing. Turns out we are not one of those couples who go on holiday and relax and get pregnant! I spent most of the night awake and a good 30 mins crying on DH this morning. I feel useless and worthless today, why can't my stupid body do what it is supposed to? What are we being punished for? I am hoping that this will pass and I'll feel a bit better over the next few days.

Part Mouse, sorry to hear your wee follies are not responding. That must be tough. Hope they kick into action soon. How high is your dose? I was on 375 gonal f twice a day for two days, then 300 twice a day for 10 days. My consultant said this was a high dose, so maybe there is room to keep upping it? Also try hot water bottles, I did it over one weekend and mine grew 4mm that weekend. can't hurt and might make you feel like you are doing something?

MrsHappy, how exciting for you! Good luck for Saturday!

Vseviour - good luck on your tww!

AFM - had our review of our cycle and dr said it was 'just bad luck' it didn't work. She wouldn't change the protocol, but did suggest giving the progesterone a different way and she also recommended we think about an endometrial scratch before the next cycle. I've put off getting a 2nd opinion as I think it would just confuse me at the moment. It was weird being at an appointment when the consultant was more excited about us trying again than I was!

Hugs to everyone on this horrible journey. I hope what Missme says is right, and that we will make better parents as a result of having to put up with this much sh&t to become parents!

    xx

PM - it's really tough that you aren't getting any reaction to the menopur. However, for some reason I thought you were on a much higher dose.

Menopur comes in 75iu ampules, or 1600iu multidose amuples (I believe). So from what you are saying it sounds like you are taking 75iu - which isn't terribly high. I was taking 300iu when I did an ICSI cycle. If you are only on 75iu its at least good that there is a lot of scope for increasing it.

Apologies if I am miles off base here (I only have my own experience to go on).

I was on 150, then increased to 225 (ie. 2 ampoules, then 3). I found the higher the dose the more fiddly the injections as you had more powder but the same amount of liquid to try and dissolve it in. Used to take me flaming ages and cause a lot of swearing lol. The actual injecting part of injecting was easy compared to getting the stuff ready.

PM, I may well have read things wrong but if you are still at a relatively low dose please don't lose heart. Some doctors just like to take these things REALLY slowly when they increase the dose. Fingers crossed for friday xx.

Thanks ladies I have increased once already but don't have the menopur to hand, so far all that's happened is a thickened lining but no activity in my ovaries. I know we can increase again but getting a little worried that nothing so far has tried ov apart from one failed go at clomid. I'm also very aware that we have other issues besides me not ov to contend with so fear. Our chances are even less aswell.

I so need to find some pma.

I presumed the same, I started on 150 (2 ampules) and went up to 225 (3 ampules), so I presumed you were at least on 225. Does your FS think you have higher risk of OHSS? Maybe that's why you're on a low dosage? I don't think going slow is anything to worry about and once the follies start to grow, the trigger shot should cause OV, so I wouldn't worry about that either.

Hi Sewit, so sorry you're going through a rough time, and you Tea, hope your OH haves somewhere like this to vent to x

I think MissMe is right too, this has made me appreciative other children in our lives so much more and even if we don't become parents, I think it makes us more compassionate to those around us, as you never know what people are dealing with.

I don't think my fs is overly worried about ohss, I know she wants to go slow, she has said it's possible to not ov on the menopur and my body being what is is I'm worried I won't ov :o
  • Hello,
Sending love to all having a hard time just row.
The hospital nearly gave me heart failure today-2 missed calls from the embryologist asking me to phone back asap, phoned back, she was with another patient, cue a nail biting hour until she call back. Anyway, I have 5 donor eggs, all suitable and all have been ICSI'd with motile sperm :D Will phone tomorrow to see how fertilization is going with the intention to transfer on Saturday :)
Tea- my OH has had a really hard time dealing with and accepting we needed a bit of help, especially the donor egg stuff, I wish I knew what was going on his head to be able to reassure him x
