Oh !!!!!!, was on fb for no more than 20 seconds and have already been slapped in the face with 2 more pg announcements. One of them is for a fourth child, and they're younger than me :(

Tea - there is someone you really should put on ignore then! Is it just me, or is facebook just becoming a mothers club these days. The only things I ever get notification of are what the kids are doing, and 'funny' memes on how wonderfully ironic motherhood is.

And some tedious pictures of the odd holiday. Or has it always been like that.

I'm really struggling today with news that my friend from treatment has secondary cancer. It's just so unfair, so heartbreaking. She will be given time to do a cycle of IVF to try to freeze some embryos, before they get serious on irradiating away her fertility. It's just so so unfair, and I can't do anything to help. So hard to cope with, and that's just me - I don't know how she is coping. It's increasing my feeling of not caring about anything at the moment. Whats the point of work and all the rest of the crap when things can just go so wrong so quickly.

Facebook's rough like that Tea. I have one friend whose every single post has got to be pregnancy related. Every single one.

    +++++++

Mrs H - well done on 23 pounds! As far as carbs go, as long as you sidestep the Haribo sandwiches, you'll be fine!! Perhaps mum was right all those years ago when she said sweets were bad for me?! Best thing about low carb eating is never having to care about calories.

    I mostly eat:

Vegetables inc salad (inc. carrots but not parsnips, potatoes, sweet potatoes, peas or corn)

Meats and fish of all varieties. Inc lovely bacon, my constant companion.

    Some cheese and other dairy

    Eggs, eggs and more eggs

Extremely modest quantities of the fun stuff..wine, fish and chips, the odd portion of ice cream (mainly because there have been lots of studies linking high fat dairy inc ice cream with enhanced fertility. And anecdotally, wine seems to help your chances too! Certainly the case that both times I got pg, copious amounts of wine were consumed around the time of conception. Possibly at it.)

    I avoid:

Bread and breaded products, cakes, sweets, sugar inc honey, breakfast cereals

Fruit (yes really..!) and fruit juice

    Pasta, rice or other grains

    Any sweetened beverages

All that said, today is Friday, and I'm going to stay at SIL's house, where fish and chips is compulsory on a Friday. So I may as well have a few drinks as well, to help numb the guilt..!

Have a good weekend everyone, or as good as you can in the circs.

I might as well just leave fb, I've got so many people on ignore for daring to get pg and mention it to the world.

Big hugs for you and your friend, I really hope her treatment is a success xx.

It's so funny, we all know at least one don't we (probably more!)

ETA: It's the patronising smugness that really makes me chuckle!!

My cousin is getting married tomorrow. I had to delete the girl when she wrote 'seems like everyone I know is pregnant. Hope it's not catching'. This is a girl who got pregnant to keep him, then announced the second was on the way within weeks of the birth. :-( x
  • Thanks for the !!!!!! link :) I have so many people on Facebook hide now, I only get updates from distant relatives and ex work colleagues! Bit pointless really!

Thanks chickpea for your rundown of foods. I've started upping my protein, cutting down on sugar (apart from ice cream which I heard is good) cut down on alcohol. Might cut out the fruit juice and just eat whole fruit from now on. Especially raspberries and pineapple which are supposed to boost fertility. Might try to cut down on carbs. It's hard being a veggie though - there will be nothing left to eat!

Big time freaking about about scan tomorrow, hubby is at work and mum not answering phone. The follicles were small on friday, so she's upped dosage to 225ml. Think I'm putting too much pressure on myself to stick to schedule, should just be happy that its finally happening, so think I'm gonna cancel job interview. Now my mind is wandering to egg collection - if I can't do jaabs, how am I gonna cope with that..??!! Deep breathing isn't work, might have to go for a run..

Sorry for ramble, just needed to let it out... x
