MrsDavo - are you sure that the test was done on the right day (7dpo, not necessarily CD21)? On my first clomid cycle I ov'd even later than usual, if I'd had a prog. test on CD21 it would have been before I'd even ov'd.

I've also read that clomid can mess with the results of OPKs, so it could be that you ov'd later than you thought.

Big hugs, have everything crossed for you that the next clomid cycle will be the one that does the trick. I kept telling myself that they routinely offer 6 months's worth, or even 3, but very rarely 1, so that must mean it takes a while to get going.

    Tea / Pink

I'm not sure when or if I do ovulate? I know I get a lot of pain some months - well all of 3 months this year. But my cycles can be 23-60 days long so unless the took blood every 3 days or something I've no idea how we would work out if the were taking it on the correct day?

I've thought that myself but the doctors don't seem bothered? Just that because its 2 or 3 on day 21 of my cycle then I've not ovulated?

Wouldn't clomid have made me ovulate earlier if it had worked though?

Yeah I have 6 months worth, but it does concern me that after this 6 months we are on our own and would need to pay for it. Not that I begrudge the money but it does seem a bit " why should I have to pay when the tart next door has 3 under 3years old and a boyfriend in prison! "

    Xx

Not necessarily. I honestly thought I was guaranteed to ov. on CD14 on my first month of clomid, was gutted when I was later than usual :o.

I've got a spreadsheet of all my ov. dates/cycle lengths for the last 6 years or so (don't ask!) - I'll check the details later but I know for certain that the first 2 months of clomid I ov'd later than usual, and it's usually in the 20/30s anyway. I think it can take a while to get into your system, and they tend to start us on a lower dose (makes sense, to work up I guess). I know it's so disheartening but there's still clomid-hope :) xx. Have they discussed upping your dose after the first couple of months?

I was v naughty (and am NOT recommending this) but upped it myself as I was narked at nothing happening. I was given 50mg for 6 months, but did 4 at 50mg then tried changing it to 100mg.

My first cycle on Clomid was monitored - I had internal scans every few days to check for OV'ing.

Clomid lengthened my cycle. I was previously regular at 24 days, so the doctors said I probably just to OV around day 10.

Took Clomid days 2-6 and then had scans starting from day 11. I OV'ed somewhere between my day 15 and day 18 scan and my cycle was 27 days.

So, Clomid made me at least OV really late!

Totally confused about when to go for my prog. test this month. I had a monitored cycle in month 1 of Clomid, and have to go for prog. bloods in months 2 and 3.

Because my cycle used to be short at 24 days, they told me to go for the bloods on day 17 instead of 21. As my cycle has lengthened, I was planning on ignoring them and going on day 21. However, based on the results from my scans in the first month, day 21 will only be 3-6 days after I've OV'ed??

It's so confusing isn't it Pink!!

    What are you on now?

Tea - when they called me earlier they said up the next dose to 100mg - but I'm now wondering when my period will show up- I hope it's not a really long cycle! Last 2 times they've had to give me provera - once for the hsg and then to start clomid!

It's very disheartening, trying to stay positive is very draining lol xx

On a brighter note, first AF since starting Clomid and my tummy ache is nowhere near as bad as normal, and neither was my PMT! Boobs aren't as sore either. So, it has its uses. Got to look on the bright side, eh? :D

MrsDavo - now on day 2 of second month on Clomid, and will be taking 50mg per day from days 2-6 (starting tonight).

I was prescribed three months' worth, with a monitored cycle in the first month and then prog. tests in months two and three. At the follow-up FS appointment, I'll wave the NICE guidelines in their faces and refuse to take any more of the stuff! Politely. ;)

B*gger!! Just realised that with my Clomid-lengthened cycle I'll have an AF on my holiday in September, which I'd timed to miss it! #headdesk

We're unexplained infertility - I have completely regular cycles and ovulate. DH's SA results were all normal. Sometimes I almost wish they'd found something wrong? We've been trying for over two years now and just don't know why little sperm and egg just don't want to get together. I have three months of Clomid to take, then a review appointment in December, then they'll do another three months. If they want to go ahead with the further three months I might quiz them on it, given what I've read about the apparent lack of benefits where there aren't any problems.

It's worth really pushing your FS for reasons why they're not following NICE guidelines on clomid and unexplained infertility. Section 1.8 deals with unexplained infertility and is an interesting read.

I have unexplained infertility & Clomid too, so that's an interesting read. I only have another 2 months of it left so I guess I'll just let it play out. I find it makes my AF pains worse out of interest.

See we never did clomid at all, we were referred straight to IVF with ICSI. OH has borderline/bad SA results and I seem fine with normal ov and a 28-30 day cycle. So maybe they jumped straight to the IVF as clomid wouldn't have helped us much. Or maybe it varies between clinics / areas??

I can understand how incredibly frustrating it must be to be made to try something that feels fairly pointless and waste time in the meantime. :/

Thank you guys for all the lovely good wishes xx

Good luck lucy- got everything crossed for you! I was the opposite to you. I wanted to be given Clomid first rather than straight to IVF. Still feels like a bad dream that it will be happening!

Got my endocrinology appointment on Wednesday about prolactin levels. Don't think it's the MRI though so am still waiting for that. Feel as sick as a dog today- my stomach is in knots, thought it was pre-AF pain but it's too high for that.... *OH words to me on Friday when this started- 'thou shalt not symptom spot- douchebag'* :rotfl:
