    Hi everyone.

Chickpea, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Sending you great big hugs.

My IVF/ICSI cycle has been going ok. Got roughly triple the amount of good size follicles this time (they upped my dose of Gonal f quite a lot for this cycle - only got 3 eggs last time). Had my last scan this morning and am booked in for EC on Wednesday this week at 9.30am. I feel physically prepared to deal with this, but emotionally (in the event of a bad outcome) hmmm, definitely not. Feels like every one of my hopes and dreams are hinging on this cycle.

just had my day 21 progesterone back. It was 18.4. That's really not good is it? Trying very hard not to cry in the office.

Lucy - best of luck. Fingers crossed for you.

Lucy - good luck & I hope it ends with a BFP for you.

Pinkteapot - sorry to hear clomid hasn't worked this time. NICE guidelines state that couples who have unexplained infertility should be referred for IVF after TTC'ing for 2 years and IUI & clomid shouldn't be prescibed as they don't increase pregnancy rates and can increase stress. It might be worth taking the guidelines to your FS appt so that they can't fob you off with more clomid.

I also felt that clomid was a bit of a box-ticking exercise. I didn't necessarily feel I was being fobbed off with it as such, but it did seem that they wanted to cross it off the list of options before we tried IVF, even though it was extremely unlikely to work for us.

I ov, not massively regularly but my cycles are usually under 40 days. My OH has had several pretty bad SA results. So clearly clomid was going to be a very long shot for us.

It did feel a bit like a hoop to jump through to get to the next level at times.

See we never did clomid at all, we were referred straight to IVF with ICSI. OH has borderline/bad SA results and I seem fine with normal ov and a 28-30 day cycle. So maybe they jumped straight to the IVF as clomid wouldn't have helped us much. Or maybe it varies between clinics / areas??

I can understand how incredibly frustrating it must be to be made to try something that feels fairly pointless and waste time in the meantime. :/

Thank you guys for all the lovely good wishes xx

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear your news Code - hugs. Lets hope you get given some help.

I know the feeling being told you've got low levels - I think mine was 15.

Pink - don't get disheartened. Clomid is made out to be this type of wonderdrug....bit like preseed and conceive plus.

AFM well I started taking 100mg of clomid on Friday. So far no side effects.....

Guess we will just have to DTD around the middle and see what happens. Have apt with Doctor on 09 September so there is our referral booked..... scary

    Hi ladies,

Just had a call from the hospital - my progesterone result on the 3 cycles they checked for O were at at 3 nmol - therefore no O.

This first cycle on Clomid 50mg - day 21 result - progesterone 2 nmol!!!

Just spent 20 mins in tears in the office - good job I'm on my own today.

The receptionist just said up your dose to 100mg next time and do another blood test.

I'm so upset that it didn't even make any impact, it made it worse! The Dr said she wanted to see my progesterone above 50nmol before she'd be happy it was working and I'm bitterly disappointed that its not moved a hint!
My OH was gutted when I told him. I got a positive OPK and real pains on CD15 and here was me doing stupid Internet tests this morning thinking I was 9DPO!!

1 cycle down and 5 to go, losing faith that this will work for us. I feel broken :-(

We will have to pay for IVF ( which we can't afford in the next 2 years anyway ) as I already have an almost 7 year old! Life is so unfair.

    I'm gutted :-(

We're unexplained infertility - I have completely regular cycles and ovulate. DH's SA results were all normal. Sometimes I almost wish they'd found something wrong? We've been trying for over two years now and just don't know why little sperm and egg just don't want to get together. I have three months of Clomid to take, then a review appointment in December, then they'll do another three months. If they want to go ahead with the further three months I might quiz them on it, given what I've read about the apparent lack of benefits where there aren't any problems.

If we have to take Clomid for another three months after December it'll be coming up on three years of trying before we get onto the IVF waiting list. We'll have to ask how long the wait is from that point as we may have to consider paying for private IVF. It's possible that DH will need an operation next year, which would put him out of action on the baby-trying front for several months. We may need to get things moving faster if that becomes necessary. :(

MrsDavo - I'm so sorry to hear the news about your prog. results. :( Fingers crossed that the higher dose of Clomid works. I'm sure I've read stories of higher doses making a good difference. They just don't like to try you on them to start with as it can over-stimluate.
