The funniest thing is how used to it you get. When we went for our pg test appt on Thursday I got in the room and went to start getting undressed. OH was just stood there looking at me weirdly lol. Can't remember the last time I had a fully-clothed appointment, it confused me!
At the 1st appointment he said they would not do an U/S as I had one last year so it was a bit of a surprise.

Tell me to naff off if I'm being nosy but I was intrigued about what you said about endo. I've always been told that endo doesn't show up on an u/s (I think some adhesions can, in certain conditions) and that it can only be diagnosed via laparoscopy. Just wondered if that's what other people had been told too?
I had endo diagnosed by a laparoscopy 6 years ago. So he could probably be more certain of saying it was endo - I don't know. To me the patch did not look that different to the rest of the haze on screen. I was surprised my ovaries could be 'seen'.

  • Hi Tea and Peonie. I was diagnosed with mild endo 5 years ago and I was told that they could only see endo via laproscopy. I asked my last sonographer if she could see endo on the 3D scan she did to check out the UU and she said the u/s only showed structure not soft tissue... That said, my UU has gone unnoticed for so long (even with the laproscopy) that they could all be wrong. :)

I've booked a private appointment for tomorrow evening to find out options. I don't know if I should lobby for clomid or just accept IVF is the way. I'm worried that if I delay IVF they'll withdraw funding (especially with the new commissioning boards and all of that jazz) or I'll have to start this whole palaver again... Decisions decisions...

Why not go for both? Ask them to put the IVF ball in motion and prescribe you clomid in the meantime.

  • My IVF 'open evening' is the 7th May- I have no idea now quickly they move after that but when we were referred in the middle of March they said the wait was only 3 months... If the open evening triggers the start of treatment I won't have time to take the clomid due to my cycles (39 day average...) :o

There was no waiting list at all for us, and that was nhs. We had an appointment where they recommended we try icsi, then we started at my next period.
  • That's quick then Tea! Was this your first cycle?

Hello everyone & welcome to the newbies!

Thinking of you tea .. Be gentle with yourself x

Had our first adoption home visit today. The social worker (henceforth SW!) seems really lovely & was very chatty. Answered all our questions & asked a lot herself. We've lots to think about.. But are very excited at the prospects. She's booked us in for a 3 day adoption prep course in July. Once that's done the proper in-depth home visits (8, count them!!) start. Then lots of forms.. Then adoption panel. Then hopefully approval, & matching. SW says from now to panel will take about 8 months. Eeeek!

One step - how exciting! I thought of you earlier today and wondered how your meeting has gone. Good to get a sw you get on with as they are so important in this process. Good news that you don't have long to wait to prep classes! X
