Bz and tea thanks for the replies xx just wondering what will happen if clomid doesn't work!
Birdie I feel the same xFirst baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140 -
I've not taken clomid this cycle or last and I've just ovulated on something like cd 12 (forgotten already). However I think it was vsevoir?, on here, had a relatively long cycle when she took a break from clomid. In theory the clomid affects linger for a bit. In theory it could reset your body to a better cycle regularity. In practice, it's not predictable and "every woman is different"
Been thinking of you BZ.
Tealover, I'd phone the clinic. Stress is the worst thing you can do, if you can do anything to put our mind at ease, do it. Fingers and toes crossed for you.
Hi to the newbies x0 -
In response to the clomid questions.. I've had a look at my cycle lengths before, during and after clomid (because I am that bored at work).
The 5 cycles before (no treatment at all) were 59 / 45 / 35 / 38 and 33 days.
The four cycles of clomid were 40 / 46 days (50mg) and 38 / 31 days (100mg).
The next two cycles (no treatment) were 32 and 36 days.
The next cycle after that was icsi.
Not sure that really shows anything lol! Other than it still varies quite a lot. It does seem that I needed the slightly higher dose of clomid to get things working, so it's always worth upping it if the first few cycles don't seem to be doing the trick.
BZ - cake is always in orderx
Tea can I ask you, as you are bored, what made them decide on clomid as you were having some sort of a cycle? Was it because they were irregular?
Im just wondering what is it that makes them give someone clomid if they are already ovulating - albeit at irregular times? Because thats my situation at the moment so Im just wondering what the sort of criteria is as I dont know what else they could do for me, that I know about.
btw I am thinking of you and glad youre staying away from the sticks.0 -
Firefly - welcome to the thread. I was in the same situation as you last year. I was 38.5 yrs old all tests on me and DH were normal and so it was put down to unexplained infertility and I was referred privately for IVF. We only had one cycle of IVF as that was all we could afford and unfortunately for us it was unsuccessful but it does work for others. It was daunting as it seemed to happen so quickly but the nurses at our clinic were so lovely and explained everything to us and answered all our questions. Hope all goes well with your assessment and remember to ask them any questions you have, I also had a note of what I wanted to ask to make sure I didn't forget anything and of course you can ask any questions on here and there will always be someone who can help.0

Tea can I ask you, as you are bored,
what made them decide on clomid as you were having some sort of a cycle? Was it because they were irregular?
I'm not sure! I presumed it was because I have a PCOS diagnosis, so the next step was clomid and metformin.
I was quite surprised we got it tbh, as OH's SA results were all pretty rubbish. Part of me thinks it was almost a box-ticking exercise - it was pretty clear we'd need IVF (well, ICSI), but I think sometimes they like to have tried something else first, even if the odds aren't great.
I was really surprised (and annoyed lol) when clomid make my cycles longer - I didn't know it could do that!0 -
Hi to all the newbies.
I had my 2nd FS appointment today. I had hoped my prolactin levels would be high again so they would give me some miracle drug. Isn't it strange that I would hope there was something wrong with me. But no, my levels were fine.
Thank goodness I shaved my legs, with no notice my legs were in the stirrups and you know what happened next. The FS said I have endo on my left ovary, in the next 2 or 3 days an egg will release from my right. I'm going to have an exploratory op in the next few months to check the effect of the endo on my filopian tubes.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

I know the question was aimed at Tea but I also ovulate on my own and got one round of clomid because my progestrone was low during the day21 tests so they used to to try and 'reset' my cycles. Will only know if that worked after this cycle.
Primmer - Thanks for the reply.I amsure I wil stop freaking out after the assesment when I know what the 'plan'is. Right now it just all seems to be happening so fast, new treatments, new hospital, new docs. Hopefully I will feel more positive when my homones settle back down.0 -

Thanks Tea. God that would be awful - I mean Clomid is supposed to help, not hinder!!firefly369 wrote: »I know the question was aimed at Tea but I also ovulate on my own and got one round of clomid because my progestrone was low during the day21 tests so they used to to try and 'reset' my cycles. Was it low though because it was done on cd21 or did you get it done at 7dpo and it was still low?
I suppose either way you got to try it.0 -

The funniest thing is how used to it you get. When we went for our pg test appt on Thursday I got in the room and went to start getting undressed. OH was just stood there looking at me weirdly lol. Can't remember the last time I had a fully-clothed appointment, it confused me!
Tell me to naff off if I'm being nosy but I was intrigued about what you said about endo. I've always been told that endo doesn't show up on an u/s (I think some adhesions can, in certain conditions) and that it can only be diagnosed via laparoscopy. Just wondered if that's what other people had been told too?0 -

I ovulate regularly and have 28ish day periods. However, I have a low AMH. Other than that unexplained fertility.
The new NICE guidelines state that people with unexplained fertility shouldn't be given clomid because its pretty useless in that situation (the guidelines came out just before my last appointment), so for me, I think its just a delaying tactic, before I go on the IVF, or something similar, waiting list.
However, this doesn't stop me hoping Clomid will make me pop out two or three eggs, which go on to be fertilised, and I can have the large family I always wanted.
With my clomid-inspired PMS headache looming though it wont be anytime soon!0
