Just had appointment to discuss OH's SA results. Dr starting talking about assisted help will likely be our best option. Got all upset and still am trying to hold it in. Off to work soon. (deep breaths)
Know you ladies have been thorugh it, but I can't help getting upset. At least I have here to vent.
Thanks for reading
What does 'assisted' mean, lovey? We had ICSI because the OH's sperm is as lazy as he is, and we're the proud owners of a Freddie now. Or are you talking sperm donation? We had egg donation so I know about that too and I'm always happy to share my experiences.
Every step of the way takes some adjusting and it's normal to feel upset. As Runnerduck says, we are all here to help x."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Good vibes, it's always difficult to hear that you may need a plan b. Don't beat yourself up about needing some time to get your head around things. Whatever route you take next, rest assured that there'll be someone on here who can share similar experiences with you.
Naomi, that's so sweet, thank you! Feel free to pop out of lurkdom whenever you fancy. It's a very friendly group of people...and nothing is ever tmi lol.
Hospital have told me what time we need to go on sat (8.30), so embies must still be hanging on in there.0 -
Hi guys,
Thank you guys. Feeling better today, felt more as AF due ( always get hormone upset). Discussed Ivf option due to result. Not got all my investigations yet. And he is being referred to get his bits looked at. Just found it upsetting to see my lovely OH trying to stay upbeat about things, but could see how he felt inside. Thank you I should feel more comfortable discussing my journey on this thread and advice.
Hope you all had a good day0 -
Thanks tealover I will :-) keep popping on to check up on you lol!
I have been trying for almost a year now for no 2 so I avidly read this thread and the other one. Dreading going to the doctors though as I am overweight and I know exactly what they will say! I have lost 22pounds since this time last year. Not much but I'm proud as I have kept it off whereas I am usually a yo yo dieter.
Currently waiting to hear back again for the clearblue trial so fingers crossed!
Thanks hun and the very best of luck!!Happy Wife and Mother :-) DD is 7 bump is due in July and DH is 40.0 -
22 pounds is great naomi! And far better to do it in a sensible amount of time, much more likely to stay off that way. Good luck for the clearblue trial.0

Good vibes, your appt sounds like the last one I had. I'd had various appointments before but they'd never really talked much about IVF - although I had thought about the possibility in my head, however never really thought i would need to get that far.
When they said it was probably going to be my only hope (actually ICSI, because of DHs low motility) it was very difficult for me to hear it and comprehend that I am going to have to go through this.
I think the worst thing is knowing that they wont help me until I lose weight as at the moment my BMI is too high. I have lost a little bit of weight so far, but nowhere near enough.
I have an appt in 2 weeks but I dont even know why they want to see me. I'll tell them I've lost a bit of weight - they'll just tell me to go away and lose more (which I will of course) but I kind of feel like I'm in limbo. Im already taking Metformin (which I dont think is doing anything at all but I'm going along with it) what else can they do until I lose weight. I reckon it will take me about 8 or 9 months at least to lose all the weight I need to - can they assist me in the meantime or will they just fob me off until then? I dont really understand what my next stage is?0
