I'm gonna be stalking all you Hewitt Centre ladies! It's where I'm on the list for IVF but I want clomid first. I'm not really in the right frame of mind for the 'last resort-ness' of IVF just yet and I think my OH wants a go at improving his sperm count. Any tips from anyone who has managed to do that?
Tea- congrats on the 15 eggs- got everything crossed for you.0 -

Quick questions for the private ladies
1) how did you choose your clinic? They all seem to be very good, I think. There's nothing too special about us, just my lack of ovulation so I think that's all we'd need treatment for (I hope)
...which leads to my second question...
2) I've looked at the hewitt centre price list (it was on that documentary and I liked the head clinician lol) and it says ovulation induction is £385 including initial consultation and scans fir first cycle which seems a pretty good price. But it also says 'pre treatment screening' is £440 and is blood tests and sperm count.
Can I say I don't want those tests as it's only ov induction we want and we already know that my tubes, his sperm etc are fine? X x
It depends on the tests. If, for example, they want to screen you for hepatitis, HIV etc. prior to commencing treatment, provided you've had these tests in the past 12 months and can provide the results, they probably won't need to be repeated.
When I went to the private clinic, I asked the NHS consultant to forward all my notes and my GP to forward the results of a recent smear test. This was fine but IME, all clinics like to do a sperm test themselves, partly because their own andrologists like to take a look and partly because the quality of sperm can vary from month to month.
I think you're going to need to negotiate with them."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Morning ladies. Hospital just called - actually had 17 eggs. 11 were mature enough for icsi & 4 have fertilised. Embryologist said they usually look for 5 to take them to blast, but they'll see how it goes. Transfer would be sat (for blast), or thurs. They'll call back tomorrow with progress.
So be honest with me on these numbers ladies....is that good/bad? I have no idea!!0 -
tea/coffee lover - I can't comment on the numbers, but just wanted to say I am still [STRIKE]stalking[/STRIKE] following you (and lots of other ttc ladies) and have everything crossed for successful transfer at the end of the week0

Tealover - 5 fertilising is a positive sign especially if they can make it to blast. There is no set pattern on how many fertilising is a good result as it wil depend on dose of drugs given, your age, your fsh and amh levels, quality of your dh's sperm etc.
I had 8 eggs, two fertilised abnormally and so couldn't be used and 4 did not fetilise at all and so I had two which fertilised normally. They did not make it to blast and they were both put back in 2 days after ec.
I am told that if I do decide to have ivf again they would try icsi and increase the dose in the hope of more eggs and more fertilising but there can be no guarantees.
Fingers crossed for you tea, hope get pleanty of rest between now and transfer.0
