Cash back at Sainsburys - warning!

A vent and warning to all - don't make the same mistake I did!!!
Bought shopping and needed £10 for my daughter. Asked for cashback. Lady was lovely, very chatty, very polite - too busy talking took my shopping walked back to my office and realised she didn't give me my cash.
Walked back to Sainsburys. Saw Customer Service lady (who could certainly do with more training!) and explained, showed her my receipt.
"Well, you asked for the cash and it's not our responsibility to ensure you take it!"
I explained that my receipt had not been initialled by the member of staff.
"Well, we don't initial receipts anymore"
What, why not? Surely you should to protect your staff and this isn't fair on your customers.
"Some of the old timers initial but most don't"
OMG - Old timers, her exact words....
Well - Had to fill out a form and wait for till to be counted, which may take a couple of days.
That was last Thursday. The CS lady promised to call me asap. No calls have been received and I left home/mobile no's.
Will pop into Sainsburys tomorrow and speak to the Store Manager. Terrible customer service. I am so stubborn that if they do not resolve this, I will never, ever shop at Sainsburys again.
Thanks for listening - I'm so cross:mad:

I'm sure it would be a great loss to Sainsburys.0

Is this yet another example of people failing to take responsibility for their actions, and wanting to blame everyone except themselves.;)
If I asked for cashback and failed to take it, I would be blaming myself for being a stupid idiot, and learn from the mistake.0 -
Ditto - I once used one of those LINK atms at a small corner shop and only picked up my receipt - left £40 cash in the tray!! It was badly designed, I had my 4 yr old with me and all that but it was completely my stupidity. When asked the shop keeper if anyone had handed anything in - no one had, stupid stupid me!
I found £50 cash in Sainbury's carpark and handed it in to customer services - as it was never claimed got it back last week0 -
sympathetic lot on here aren't they?0

If they have no proof that you got the money ie an initialed receipt or similiar then they should give you the money otherwise its theft. Don't wait for them to contact you, get down to the shop and speak to the manager. It doesn't take a few days to tally up a till either.0

What difference does initialling the receipt make? Most likely the cashier would have initialled the receipt and the OP would still have forgotten to take the money.
Usually the store will cash up the till at the end of the day and if it is £10 over will give you the money. I am gong to take a wild guess and suggest the OP was less than polite in their conversation in store, something which is guaranteed to get a less than desired response from customer services.
Rather than go to the store demanding to see anyone, try just phoning them. If not, make a copy of your receipt, and send it along with a letter to their customer services dept. explaining the situation and asking for an immediate reply.0
