bob i have to admit i did think this couldve been the same with my shoulder (and it still might be) we got the new mattress last dec and within a few days (not even 4) i was in agony with my other shoulder i went to the dr and got a cortisone in that shoulder and it seemed to help ...i have tried swapping sides with mr el but it hasnt helped he complains because he cant sleep when we do ...it is much worse in the morning though tbh and alot of my pain is in bed ...this mattress cost us £900 last december i havent even fully paid for it yet its one of those super duper things that are meant to take the shape of your body (not that i think it is either super or duper havnt liked it from the day we got it) ...we bought it for mr el's back last year he seems to like it says it helps him ...but i think it could be what's causing my problems

What is the make and model of the mattress?

El, I think you answered my question about why *that* symptom - your post no 704 above. As Bob says, it may be worth biting the bullet...

I know it's a bit late now, but did you try sending it back under their comfort guarantee?

Do you sleep on your side?

I think the accupuncturist is a good idea and could well be worth a try.

Perhaps when buying another bed one of those that go into different positions with seperate mattresses may do the trick..maybe worth thinking about.A good bed is an essential.

I have been putting off the drs cause I reckon one of three things will happen ....1 I will get another cortisone injection I don't see how having a second one will work when the first made no difference at all....2 I will be given painkillers and anti inflammatrys painkillers only kill the pain they don't solve the problem and I kinda believe that when we feel pain our body is telling us something .... Anti inflammatrys damage the stomach I don't need any more problems ....3 I will be sent to physio for excercises .... I had downloaded excercises and have been doing them faithfully with no improvements so far .... So basically I am now in so much pain and my life has been so effected that I am getting desperate ...

See what your doctor has to say, then try a chiropracter or someone similar.

Normally a bit of a twist, pop and pull is good - but we do need to focus on the shoulder...

If you sleep on your side then pocket sprung with memory foam would have been better, as the pocket springs will contour to the shape of your shoulder. The reflex foam under the memory foam in your mattress won't.

Also £900 is way over priced for a reflex foam/memory foam mattress.

I'd stay away fro Dreams if I were you.
