hey all,
long time no see eh ... well what have i been up to ...work work work and work ...have finished first year of uni finally am still deciding if i should go back for year two ...handed my notice in on job number two only to find out a week later everyone got redundancy notices ...so guess who missed out on redundancy money ...ach well if it wasnt for bad luck i would have no luck ....have been doing over time in job number one to make up for the money but that will be ending soon as they dont like to pay for qualified staff when they can get someone else to do it for £2 an hour less (i know you would think i got paid well ) business well it isnt going good at all ...elantan decided to start her own business when the world goes into recession that would be the bad luck again then :rotfl:...i am thinking about folding the business but i am not sure if i should or how to go about it ...i need to get some promotion but have no money to spend on it
anyhoooo ...the reason for my return ...remember the problem i had with the car the other year that was gonna cost £4,500 and ihad a melt down over ...well the same thing happened ...now i couldnt afford another £4.5k especially if it wasnt going to last so hubby and i went out to look at new cars ...now as you are also probably aware his back aint good so i needed a car he could sit in easily and i wanted a reliable one etc etc ...the proces scared me senseless ...how can this country get out of debt with prices like that
anyway the up shot is the car got fixed it was another fault that behaves the same and looks the same but only cost £137 to fix (not much difference then) but this gave us a shock probably the shock we needed ...yes we were debt free and then i started the business so i spent money getting set up etc i still have to pay for that ...also had to go buy a new mattress for hubby for his back and bought a new suite cause the shop was shutting down and they were going really cheap (the other one was falling apart as well) and we used the over drafts on basic living (not that that is any excuse) ok so it was chinese etc far too often but it wasnt nights out or holidays etc ..so we are back in debt to the tune of £9,650
now i have a holiday booked for september the first since thailand (well abroad anyway) and the first since bath last year in this country ...thing is ryan air cancelled the flights so i had to re book them and had to sort out the hotel etc that cost us an extra £500 and now we have 7 days spending money to find instead of 4
ultimatley what it comes down to is this ...i am going to have to get back on top of our finances and this place is the best place there is to do that ...i am spending a good bit of time on os as well as i think that is where my savings will be made this time
anyway nice to be back

I'd like to say welcome back Elantan, but that doesn't seem quite appropriate.
It's nice to see you, it's not nice to see your new debt. But best of luck with clearing it.0 -
I will reply properly at lunchtime when I am not just "sneaking" on......but nice to see you, and will catch up properly in a bit!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. thanks olive ...its good to be back in a way ...maybe i need to look into addiction to debt lol ...
you know its quite funny how you decide to get back to it again and things that you had let slip to the back of your mind come forward ... i had decided at work last night that i was going to close some accounts as it became too much for me to transfer money into them every month so today i went online and had a look ...i had to go and get the info to sign in and when there i noticed other accounts that i hadnt checked for ages so i have spent the last wee while going through all the accounts and seeing what i can do ...have written out one of the letters have another 4 to write to close accounts ...
hubby got paid today as well and got extra wages so i have put it towards the visa clearing the small one so will wait till next month and close that one (one of the four letters i still have to write) ...you know there is a sense of relief when you face up to things ...i have been burying my head for a wee while now thinking it's ok we will manage ...and we have ...but it wouldnt've lasted much longer and we would've been in alot more debt.... my visa bill just arrived for virgin they recieved my payment for last month so now i know the online banking is working right i can send payments as often as i can ...0 -

it sure does lol ...hopefully me too shortly
right how much do i hate ryan air ...oh where do i begin
had a flight booked with them for may was going over with my business partner for a evening with Richard bandler ...ryan air changed the flights on us so i got them to credit us with the flights ...business partner then had to cancel an emergency popped up ...so i was effectively £100 (yes i paid for the tickets on my card) for the night and £160 for the flights ...but hey i had the flights still didnt i so not all was lost ...then ryan air cancelled our flight to poland so i had to re book with easyjet and pay for an extra 3 nights accomadation with the hotel costing us another £500 ...in the mean time my lap top died taking with it all the information for the flight credit ...so have just spent an hour at 10p a min on the phone to them to get it sorted ...i have flights worth £160 to use ...no money to go anywhere though ...i asked if i can have a refund saying i have been made reduandant (ok i missed out that by a week) but no they wont budge ...so do i a) book a flight to somehwere that i cant afford so that i dont loose my money but have to pay for hotels etc which i cant afford b) give the flights to a friend that might use them ...she cant afford to pay for them either but might manage a day in dublin with a friend that is coming over from the u.s c) loose the flight and put the £260 down to bad luck
arrrggggghhhhhhh0 -
but on the good side i have paid off the wee annoying visa and written the letter so will post it today and thats one down four to go ...yay0

right so here i was today ...number one of trying to eat etc for £8 a day now i know that seems like a lot to some people but it terrifies me ...i went to the shop in the village thinking save diesel ...got some things but they didnt do tofu (and that was what i fancied) so i had to go in the car after all to the nearest town arrrggghhh ...the shopping came to £7.19 less than £8 you say ...well that was just mine nothing for hubby ...this is gonna take me a while to get used to i tell you
is it possible to survive on £8 a day for two people one carnivore one vegetarian...and by survival i mean work money toilet roll shampoo washing powder alcohol and food etc ....i dont know0 -
Very doable - my shopping budget for everything, including all toiletries, cleaning stuff etc, is basically £3 per person per day. This includes everything such as cat food too.
It is just a case of being discliplined, thinking ahead, etc etc, although I can understand that it seems a little scary at the mo!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. My budget for July is £11.29 per day - and that is for 5 or 6 of us because we have the students staying :eek:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
