Oh Scotsgirl I'm so so sorry for you, I wish I could give you a real hug as the words don't seem to be enough. As you already know many of us have been through it so keep posting if it helps you, we know how you're feeling. I echo the take it easy sentiments (crisps and super noodles sound just right:o), and to allow yourself to grieve. Talk to the people closest to you - not just your OH - let your family/friends support you. And there's no reason for anyone to keep a mc to themselves if they're ok to talk about it - personally I only wanted those close to me to know, I found it easier to not have everyone at work know, but we're all different so if you want to tell people about it they'll understand.

    Take care love xxxx
  • Hi!
I'm ttc, but have been lurking and posting on the 12+ ttc thread... mainly because I had a mc in March/April at 8.5 weeks, and it was so much help to write a bit about it/share/get advice from the ladies there.
And so I wanted to send a virtual hug to Scotsgirl too.

It's funny, as well as the strong emotions, I have a more practical side when it comes to dealing with it. Seems strange but I can get some comfort from knowing things like: the chance of an mc is quite high (around 25% say some sources) - so it's normal, it's nature's way - and there's nothing wrong with you and you didn't do anything wrong.
Also I got pregnant without any trouble, which is something to be happy about. The statistics thing means that next time I have a 75% (at least, depending which stats) chance that everything is fine, which is pretty big really - so actually chances are excellent that I'll get pregnant again and everything will be fine.

Of course, on other days emotions and irrational thoughts take over (and I think sometimes hormones have a lot to answer for ). And it is a cliche I know, but it has got better with time. I wanted to start ttc immediately, but for various reasons we had to wait a couple of cycles and I think both mind and body needed the time.

I think the internet is fab, in the case of threads such as this (and the 12+ttc) - I found it invaluable to share and read about the experiences and feelings of others. Sometimes though, maybe in the case of more medical orientated information, it's better to limit your reading. (Although first getting pregnant and then having the mc, I was hungry for as much information as possible). I'm in trouble with OH (on this subject) if I start a sentence.."I just read on the internet that.."
But he's right, sometimes you don't know where all the info comes from. I try to just listen to the real-life medical professionals I see for the practical advice- and talk to people (here and non-virtual friends) about the feelings and ups and downs.

Like someone else said - I've now discovered so many women who had miscarriages (all of whom have children too). 2 of them actually had 7 mc's! (But they're older, so it was in the days when people had much bigger families).
It's so much more common than I thought.

Anyway, ramble over. And lots of luck and that baby-dust stuff to you all!

    Hi all,
I have my early scan today, unfortunately it wasn't great news.......
There is a sac and a tiny foetus measuring only 2mm, by this stage it should be around 10mm, I've to go back next week to confirm another miscarriage, booked in for a D & C the following Tuesday...

AH Catw0man I'm so sorry. Huge hugs to you, at the end of the day all the statistics in the world can't take the sense of loss away from you. Take care of yourself and be strong.
This thread has gone from being so sucessful for July to full of sadness for August with the mc's and others struggling at the moment. I hope we can turn it around soon and have some more positive news again.
Twinklie have you tested that fmu yet! Come on you might be the one to give us some good news.
