unfortunately it looks very much like it is a miscarriage - haven't stopped bleeding at all, and it's pretty heavy too. I had a feeling something was wrong though - I was losing weight (intentionally) before I found out I was PG, and actually hit my healthy BMI for the first time in ages the same day I found out! Although I stopped actually dieting my weight shot up (3lb in 3 days) which it always does right before AF, so I think something must have gone wrong on Monday and it's taken my body this long to start.
Thank you so much for all your support girls -I don't know what I'd do without you all. I'm beginning to think that the miscarriage statistics that are published are a pile of utter mince though. I'm young (23) so my risk was, according to NHS, only 9%. Obviously not told many people, but had to tell my (male) boss, and OH's boss, to explain why we were off. Both of them have been thru it, in my managers case, his wife has had several. And when I see how many women on here have experienced it too, it just makes me realise that it's something that is so common, and yet so hidden.
I heard somewhere that there's a 25% chance of mc before 8 weeks and that most women just think they have a long cycle that month unless they actually test (my have misheard/misread so do correct me!) Jacqhale's right, I don't think this gets accurately relayed to medical peeps so the stats are all underpowered at this early stage.
At least you know your body *can* get pg though Scotsgirl, not a lot of comfort right now admittedly :grouphug:Never argue with an idiot, he just brings you down to his level and beats you with experience.0 -
I just found another website that suggested that it could be as high as 60%, because so many are unknown and unreported. I have a short LP, so knew I was late very quickly - someone with a 14 day lp who wasn't actively charting would probably never have known they were PG as by the time they waited a couple of days extra.....0

scotsgirl: just wanted to send you my love, take it easy
how is it that as soon as i started ttc everybody around me got pregnant or am i noticing it more this week dh cousin announced she is pregnant on fb wait for it a huge 4 weeks :eek::eek: i cant help thinking its so early and with the statistics of early mc i think shes playing with fire!!!!! hopefully not0 -
Scotsgirl, it never ever gets any easier I'm afraid as yes, it is mightily common but as we don't often mention it to our RL friends, then it stays a very hidden issue. Sad in this day and age, but true.
So do come on here and chat and rant and cry as much as you need to - we really do understand and know there's not much more we can say and I am sitting here with tears streaming as I'm sure many others have for you. Huge hug hun and take time to look after yourself and your OH, x0 -
Scotsgirl hun....
Shamefully we're both a part of that statistic.... I was 24 when we lost our 1st in miscarriage and only found out at the 12 week scan.....and my gp told me it was only a 9% chance it would have happened to me, 0% comfort though!
Like everyone has said before me, just take it really easy, I had a hot water bottle for the cramps, lots of water to replace fluids and i took ibuprofen for the pain. Try to eat something when you can, whatever it is and basically whatever you need, have....
Im glad your respective bosses have been really supportive. And we're all here for you.... big hugs to you and your oh....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
So sorry Scotsgirl, and yes, I agree that it's a real hidden issue. In the last few months, I've heard of so many people that have been through it.
It's not something many people feel that they can share in real life, and it's only recently that my mother confided in me that she has always thought that she had a mc shortly after having me, but was never able to talk about it.Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

Thank you girls- you've all been a great comfort, and I'm sorry that so many of you have been through this too. I can't imagine how horrible it must have been finding out at 12 weeks CAFCgirl, that must have been awful *hugs*. I'm taking it very easy, physically I don't feel too bad, head is a bit all over the place though. So far I've had nutritious food of McCoys for breakfast and super noodles for lunch!
So glad for the internet and places like this though- I was just saying to OH how much harder it must have been even a few years ago when information and support was limited to your GP and people you felt comfortable telling in real life. I do hope it's a topic that becomes less taboo in future though.0 -

Hi hun, im am so sorry ((hugs))
Not to sure if you know but i had a mc in April to. Mine was a missed mc only picked up by pure chance at an early scan.
It is so hard, and you will find yourself just bursting into tears at completly random times. For me it was at the cementry when i was at my nans grave just after we left the hospital.
I also thought my risk was very low, im 20 years old and pretty healthy. I didn't think it would happen to me, i thought it was something that happened to other people, not me.
I also kept blaming myself. Everyone told me it wasn;t my fault but i felt it was, i thought i was a faliure.
But, its not your fault and your not a faliure.
If you ever want to talk just pm me
Also, if your ready apparently your meant to be a little bit more fertile after a mc. Some of the girls on the pregnancy thread got pregnant after a mc.
Also, talking about it helps alot. Talk to your OH talk to your mum talk to people on here. Dont bottle up your feelings.
Also, stop looking online at statistics, most of them are wrong. My doctor told me off for doing this as i was just getting myself worked up.
Also dont type 'miscarrige' into google, i did this and found a pretty disgusting blog about it, made me cry.
Again ((hugs)) and make sure you rest today xxx0
