I didnt mean to sound like i was rubbing it in or anything. but like you said its basically the diagrammatic opposite of some other peoples situations. It just plays on my mind ever since what GP said after we lost our first.....

I dont want to just be eating loads of empty calories as thats going to do much more damage. I've been trying to increase my inbetween meal snacks, but then i find i cant physically eat as much at my meal times, so its a real challenge... off to google i guess, but thanks hun and I hope I didnt offend anyone by asking....

I've been on both sides of this equation! Currently my BMI is 27 and I'm probably about 1 1/2 - 2 stone overweight. I gained weight when I was skinny by going back to eating normally, which is no help to you lovey! And I went past that by living very close to a superb chinese takeaway for 2 years!

Anywho, one of my close friends is a recovering anorexic and she has lots of ovaltine (doesn't drink tea/coffee) and doesn't have massively big meals but eats a normal portion and grazes steadily throughout the day on muesli bars, lots of yoghurt and stuff like that.
Maybe more snacking would help you put on extra pounds rather than big high-calorie dinners?

Just read that through and it sounds bad  I'm not suggesting you're anorexic, just that my friend was (not that I think you ever truly get over it) and thats what she does to keep her weight up as a matter of course. AFAIK her BMI is about 17 which is pretty good considering what she has been.
Never argue with an idiot, he just brings you down to his level and beats you with experience.

Hi CAFCGirl you didn't offend, I know other people with the same problem and I know it's as much of a worry for you as being overweight is for us so I hope you find some answers soon.

Smartie great diet to be recommended although not sure it would ahve helped with the crohns. Are you feeling a bit better yet or is the witch still being evil!

At that time it didn't matter if the food affected my Crohns.... it was at its very worse and I was skin and bones so HAD to put weight on. Very scarey time:eek:

It took a few years of eating LOTS to get my weight up.... luckily I love food BUT now I have to remember I DO NOT need to put any weight on:rotfl:

Although I did read that I have to make sure I'm a good weight for pregnancy because Crohns might be naughty and I'll lose lots and that won't be good for baby. Hmmmm.... need lots of fat stored up..... chinese takeaway here I come!!!!:j

Evil witch is being a little kinder now but I still feel yucky :(

    Thanks Bitzer....

I've been trying to keep a normal portion size healthy meal and then just snack on things like carrot sticks, juices, smoothies, crackers and cheese....
It probably doesnt help that we dont keep a set of scales at home because i didnt want to fixate on weight...which is a good thing......

try adding something like slimfast shakes into your diet, they have around 200 calories so will add a bit extra that way if you have 2 or 3 a day on top of meals, plus they are full of vitamins and goodstuff !

I second the above poster; slimfast or something like complan (in addition to your normal meals) will soon get you putting on the pounds; someone else mentioned ovaltine which is also good advice. Try, if you can, to steer clear of fish and chips every night! My best friend at school hated her body as she just could not put on weight however much she ate; that said, after two kids she is desperate to lose weight! let us know how you get on with your new diet though and fingers crossed that it helps in the baby making plan.

Excellant news from kelinik; I'm new here and haven't had much time to read through this entire thread so not sure of your whole journey but fingers crossed that you get the BFP and it's plain sailing from then.

I'm supposed to be decorating whilst the OH is away and so far all I've managed is to go into town and buy a new pair of shoes and get my hair cut! I don't think he will understand that those took priority some how! It's a good job that he knows me so well. The bout of BD I have in mind for him when he gets back tomorrow night should take his mind off it though!

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon/evening everyone; the sun has finally made an appearance here which lifts the spirits somewhat.

I'm the same...I totally struggle to put weight on and maintain it! I find eating constantly (lots of snacks) and then a medium size lunch followed by a BIG tea always helps. I eat lots of fruit and veg and I'm moving towards fish atm as well.

But I have found the best way for me to put weight on its to exercise. I put muscle weight on AND the food is used to provide energy for the exercise...but I eat more because I'm starving. It's an odd thing but if I don't do lots of exercise the weight drops off me! Go figure!

I'm completely symptomless for one way or the other today! I'm also home alone for the evening and incredibly bored already.

Congrats to Kelinik.... are you going to do another test as it was faint???

I probably will in few days time just to make sure but tbh with all the symptoms I've got already I'm not sure I really need to. OH said actually that as he can't remember me feeling like this so early on with our girls he's worried its gonna be quads or something!!!!

Hope your af settles down soon smartie hun. x

Btw I shall refuse point blank to move over to the other thread until some of you can come too!

Awww...bless your cottons. My OH was joking with his aunt earlier saying we should have twins and get two out of the way at once! I haven't pointed out to him that twins run in my family yet!!! :rotfl:

TBH I'd just be happy with one! I'm not greedy.

Thanks for the advice Twinklie.... good to know other peoples experience of it.
The pharmacy next door to us sells some complan items.... so might just have a look there.
I think breakfast is probably my big downfall area. I get up for work at 5am and just really struggle with being able to eat a meal at that time of the morning. however i drink smoothies all through the later part of the morning when i can manage it but i do need to get better there.....
