Nicki was this with your first child? Im only asking as we tend to go along with professionals then rather than saying hold on....

I didnt want to push down standing up with my first but i was alone and i thought that the mw knew best...thats why i like home births

You definately need to raise it with someone sooner rather than later

Tinks - if they can fit you in tomorrow they will , depends how busy they are ....and my show arrived and 15 mins later ....hey presto

sorry to run now but ill read updates tomorrow

    take care ladies

Also is this the only hospital that would be an option for you? Do you think it would make a difference if you had the choice to have this baby in completely different surroundings at another hospital?

God, I'm now going to sound like a complete basketcase and nut, but we chose this hospital because I lost my first pregnancy at the local hospital at 17 weeks and they were completely horrible and unsympathetic to me, and I felt I couldn't face ever going back there again. That hospital has one of the highest infant mortality rates in London and its labour wards is completely filthy. At least at the hospital I'm currently booked into, I've had two live births, albeit that one of the children ended up with a serious learning difficulty. Because of my previous medical history, I wouldn't feel safe or comfortable having either a home birth or a birth in a birthing centre.

Tbh, I'm now wondering why OH and I thought it would be a good idea to try for another baby. A bit bloody late I know, and it took us nearly 2 years to conceive too! I was ill with PND for a good two years, as well as all the physical problems associated with the blood loss after the birth, and we vowed at the time not to try again for that reason, but over time we changed our minds. I do love both my kids to pieces, and I do want to hold this new baby in my arms but how I get from here to the other side, I'm just not sure.

    G’day girls!

Hugs to those in need – Elastigirl, Betty, Tink, Nikki and anyone else.

Welcome to MSW! :hello: Add yourself to the EDD list.

OH picked up our cotbed tonight. He had built it before I got home from work and it looks great. Only problem is the cot top changer that we bought doesn’t fit! Typical. And we have had it for several weeks so probably too long to return it. Anyway hubby thinks he can modify it to fit, so is currently in the garage.

We have bought nearly everything now. Still to get some bedding for the cotbed, but have got sheets for the moses basket, so no real rush. There are a few odds and ends still to buy, but nothing urgent.

Harley – sorry you are still having problems with Mothercare. I have ordered loads of things from them, and not really had any problems. I took delivery of an order yesterday and there was 1 pack of sheets missing. I e-mailed them yesterday and they e-mailed back today to say that their records show it was dispatched but as I never received it they will send another one. Obviously it’s only something small, but they were at least quick and took my word for it. Fingers crossed yours is a one off case and they sort it soon as it’s been dragging on a bit!

    xx

I got these cot sheets/blanket the other day, also a blue bale which is now sold out. The fleece blanket is beautiful and soft

Also bought this from additions direct for £4 in blue, but they only have pink left now

  • Hiya Ladies and Bumps!!

It's a bit strange to think that there are people on here that don't know me now cos I used to live on here pre-Benjamin :D I hope everyone is doing well and all your pregnancies are progressing nicely. We look forward to you all graduating to the Parent Club to chat about poo and sleepless nights and screaming babies ;)

Anyway, the reason that I am here is to pass on an invitation - if any of you are based in the North West there is a Breastfeeding Picnic in Warrington on Monday to promote breastfeeding awareness.

Hope you can access this link:

    Warrington Breastfeeding Picnic

There are a few of us going from the Parent Club - me, Fritha, Sami_bee, 3onitsway and we would love to meet with anyone who wants to join us!

PM me or any of the girls or pop onto the Parent Club if you need more info.

    MFD xxx

PS - anyone can attend...you don't need to even want to Breastfeed!!

    Hiya Fitzio!

Whilst I am here I will poke my nose in! I bought tons of bedding for Benjamins cotbed but we don't use any of it!! All we use is fitted sheets and possibly the occasional blanket but very rarely.

Benjamin sleeps in sleeping bags (google Grobags for the expensive ones but you can get them at Tesco/Sainsburys/Primark etc) so no need for blankets (which he only kicks off anyway!).

So, if you think you are likely to use sleeping bags (they are an absolute godsend - no need to worry about him getting cold) then you may not need to buy many blankets at all.

We use the sleeping bags for DS2 as well. They are absolutely wonderful!!! Right now, he's not using them, as it's a bit warm. But he's just turning 3, and we've been using them almost the entire 3 years. He loves them and sleeps better with them on, I think because he stays warm and comfy - no blankets to fuss with!

They look really good and a reasonable price too! I want lemon as we don't know the sex and we bought the Sleepy Farm range for the nursery, so it's the best colour to go with it.
It's exciting that we have nearly got everything now. Although I don't know what I will do with my 4 weeks leave before baby is due since we have nothing left to buy!

    Thanks MFD and Triggles.

I have ordered 2 sleeping bags from the Next sale which were about £8 each. I have 1 fleece blanket for the cotbed, so it's really just sheets that I need. I did buy a duvet cover to do in the future for when baby outgrows the cot. Just thought it was a good idea to buy whilst we could get some things to match!
